Residents attend Oddfellows' dinner
Worst-case scenario
On April 23, members of Huron East's Municipal Control Group took part in their first training
session using the scenario of a tornado destroying major water and hydro supplies, before
ravaging a subdivision in Seaforth. (Andrea Hruska photo)
Many Cranbrook and area
residents enjoyed the chicken supper
prepared at JR's and served at the
BMG auditorium on Wednesday
night. The Oddfellows Lodge hosted
the dinner, draws and entertain-
ment.
Anne Cooper. Shirley and Isaac
Baker were lucky draw winners
from this area.
After the meal many toes were
tapping to the music of singer,
songwriter, and recording artist,
Kiley Joe Masson from Ingersoll.
Did you get out and enjoy Earth
Day on Thursday? It's really great to
The County of Huron successfully
conducted a test of its emergency
management plan on April 22.
The half-day, table-top exercise
brought together key decision-
makers that would be involved in
managing a county emergency.
Participants included warden Bill
. Dowson, CAO Larry Adams, the
county's senior management team
and support staff from all
departments. Representatives from
OPP, - Red Cross, Emergency
Medical Services. Victim Services,
and lower tier municipal
representatives were also involved.
The exercise, based on a fictional
scenario, was designed to test a
range of capabilities including
technology, communications and
decision-Inking processes.
The annual test took place at the
County's Emergency Operations
Centre. The location of the

The community extends sympathy
to the Allan Smith family on the
passing of a brother-in-law and
uncle. John Seddon (Glenna's
husband) from RR2, Walkerton.
Area residents took part in the
Huron East District Women's
Institute church service on Sunday
at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship.
WI members provided choir music,
read the scripture, and served lunch
to all after church.
Many enjoyed eating out on
Sunday night at the springtime
outside work. It won't be long until
the lawns will need cutting.
I am sure that the United Church
ladies will be hard at work the next
couple of days getting a lot of
delicious food ready for the church
supper. If you don't feel like cooking
on Sunday night, make sure you
come out to Grey Central school- for
supper. I know I will be.
Again I would like to ask anyone
in Ethel or the surrounding area to
give me a call with any news that
should be included in this column. It
is only as good as we all make it.
