P. Hunking hosts Afternoon Unit UCW

play on Wednesday, April 14 in the
Women's Institute Hall.
Winners were: high lady. Ada
Taylor; second high lady, Irlma
Edgar: lone hands, Viola Adams;
high man, Jack Taylor; second high
man. Richard Moore; lone hands,
Bill Craig.
The next euchre is Wednesday.
April 21 at 8 p.m.
On Friday, April 16 there were 10
tables of shoot in play at the
Belgrave Community Centre.
Winners were: high lady, Beverley
Hayden; second high lady, Louise
Schiestel; low lady, Dorothy.
Hynciman; most shoots, lrlma Edgar;
high man, Marie Stewart; second
high man, Ed Stewart; low man,
Louise Bosman; most shoots, Jack
Taylor.
The next shoot is Friday. April 30
at I:30 p.m.
The Afternoon Unit of the
Belgrave UCW met at the home of
Pat Hunking with seven members
present.
Ada Taylor acted as president and
Kay Roberts gave the worship. The
theme was Christ the Lord is Risen
From the Dead, based on the
scripture John I I: 11-27.
Hymns were read with the topic
being Easter People.

minutes from the previous meeting.
Bible study and Ada Taylor had a
mission study on Haiti.
The May meeting will be on May
18 at the church with Rev. Ethel
Miner Clare being the guest speaker.
Irene Lamont presided at the
Evening Unit meeting of Knox
United Church Women on Tuesday,
April 13, which was hosted by
Muriel Coultes. Mrs. Lamont read 4,
poem. The Lillies' Message.
Laura Johnston led in worship
their aunt, Helen Stonehouse. Mrs.
Cantelon, Mr. Cantelon, Audrey
MacKay of Wingham and Ruth Ann
Russell of Guelph were dinner
guests at the home of Thelma Pletch.
The Bill Coultes family celebrated
Easter Sunday, as well as several
April birthdays at the home of Mark
and Janice Matheson. David and
Muriel Matheson joined with them
as well as Nigel Black and Joe
Neves. •
Mason and Heather Campbell
participated in the Super Cities Walk
for Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday,
April 18 in Kincardine. They raised

official board meeting as well as the
executive meeting of the Huron-
Perth Presbyterial.
Upcoming activities include an
April event, the 42nd annual
meeting of London Conference of
the UCW in St. Thomas and the June
7 camp event.
The May 5 meeting is in the form
of a potluck with visitors to be
invited. Rene Richmond and Nelva
Scott are in charge of the program.

EASY CHICKEN AND
MUSHROOM SHORTCAKE
1/2 cup milk
I cup mushroom soup
I egg yolk
I cup cubed cooked chicken
baking powder biscuits
Combined milk and 'soup. Heat
and combine well.
Mix *egg yolk with a bit of the hot
sauce, add with chicken to the rest of
the sauce. Heat to boiling.
Split four biscuits, butter. Serve
chicken mixture between and on top.
Serves 4.
QUICK CHICKEN GRAVY
1 1/2 tbsp. flour

I cup milk
1 can condensed chicken soup
Blend flour and milk. Add to
condensed soup. Heat slowly,
stirring constantly. Cook until
thickened. Makes 2 1/2 cup gravy.
CHICKEN AND HAM POT PIE
2 cups cooked diced chicken
1 cup diced cooked ham
2 cups cooked mixed vegetables
3 cups chicken gravy
1 recipe pastry
milk
Mix together chicken, ham,
vegetables, gravy. Place in a greased
baking dish. Cover with strips of
pastry to form a lattice and brush
with milk. Bake at 400°F until
bubbly and browned.
PASTRY
1 cup flour
1/3 cup shortening
pinch of salt
2 - 3 tbsp. cold water
Combine flour, shortening, salt.
until mixture is the texture of coarse
meal. Add cold water until pastry
will hold together. Roll out on a flour
surface. Cut into strips. Brush with
milk and place on top of pie.
