buffet
A number of Cranbrook people
were in Monkton on Saturday night
for the Spaghetti Buffet which the
Young Peoples' group provided.
On Sunday the music night in the
Monkton Presbyterian Church that
featured the Satchell band was really
enjoyed. The nine members of the
band were multi-talented playing
several different instruments. Three
sang many solos as well during the
performance.
Birthday wishes to Betty Knight,
April 24; Will Knight, April 25;
Peter Workman and Emily Baker,
May 27. Anniversary greetings to
Gerald and Twyla Knight, April 26.
Elisa Knight, Gerald and Twyla's
daughter was visiting with Leslie
and Yvonne for the weekend.
Many family members attended
the 40th wedding anniversary
celebrations of Carmen and Doreen
Smith in the Atwood Community
Centre. Saturday night.
Anna Lee (Stevenson) Hoodem,
daughter of Eleanor Stevenson has
received her LCMSW-C in social
work. Her family and the community
congratulate her on this
achievement.
She and her husband live in
Washington. D.C.
The Cranbrook WMS meeting
was held at Yvonne Knight's on
April 13.
Donna Knight. leader, opened the
meeting reading John 11:25 and an
article from the Easter Ideal Book.,
The hymn. Beneath
The Cross of Jesus, was read in
unison.

Cranbrook card party on Friday
night.

students at Grey Central Public
School honoured a teacher, the late
Dianne vanVliet.
Eachunn Blaney, the primary
choir. Derick Bachert, Randy Zwep
and Danica Zwep took part in the
memorial tribute. The service ended
when Mrs. McDowell read the poem

April 13. the Grade 3s and 4s went
to the Slice of Huron to learn about
agriculture, farm safety and water
quality.
The Grade 4s are working on
patterns and symmetry this week in
math. Doing hands-on activities
using miras seemed to help improve
their understanding of symmetry.
They've been discovering patterns in
pictures and in everyday problems.
They've made patterns with a variety
of math manipulatives, and are
becoming proficient at using t-charts
to record patterns.
With Mr. Perrie on Friday
morning, they could find many
patterns in nature while touring the
Environmental Learning Grounds
noticing signs of spring.
The Grade 4s are also working
with patterns in language. They have
been writing interesting paragraphs
using three patterns commonly used
by effective writers: step-by-step,
most important to least important.

Mrs. Murray's Grade 5s have been
multiplying decimals all week in
math. In science they have been
learning how to conserve energy. On

celebration of all Christianity
because it celebrates the resurrected
Christ.
Friday, they had a music test about
the three composers: Bach, Handel
and Haydn.
Mr. Payne's Grade 8s are learning
about the Pythagorean Theorem in
math. In history they are learning
about Canada's second prime
minister. Alexander Mackenzie and
his time as prime minister.
