Bennetts greet at Duff's United service
Welcoming friends and members
to Duff's United Church, Walton
were Ross and Marg Bennett on
Palm Sunday. It was an
intergenerational service and the
sacrament of communion was
observed.
Attendees were all given palm
sprigs. The lilies at the front of the
sanctuary were for shut-in members
Betty McCall and Bertha Love as
gifts from the UCW.
Food donations are urgently
needed for the food banks. These can
be brought to the church or left in the
containers at the grocery store.
The UCW covers the cost of the
United Church Observer at a cost of
$14 per family per year. Anyone
wishing to assist in this cost is asked
to mark an envelope with their
There are more changes around
Walton. A large crew of Mennonites
arrived on the former 8th of Morris
shortly after 7 a.m. to remove an
unused barn on the property of
Leona McDonald. When I arrived at
9 a.m. all the boards had been
removed (some done the day before)
and the roof completely.off.
I counted over 50 men that I could
The children of Walton Little
School are full of smiles. As the nice
weather has dried up the playground
they are once again sliding and
riding bikes. They are having great
fun pulling each other in the wagon
and enjoying the spring weather.
Heirloom
font used
for baptism
William Cameron Mann Dotson,
infant son of Tracy Mann and David
Doison of Waterloo, was baptized on
Sunday, March 28 at Knox
Presbyterian Church, Waterloo with
Rev. Brooke Ashfield and Rev.
Linda Ashfield officiating. Aunt and
Uncle, Kendra and Ben Breen,
Waterloo are godparents.
The silver baptismal font used for
the baptism had been the property of
the former Knox United Church,
Moncrieff. It had served as the
baptismal font for two generations of
the Mann family, prior to the closing
of the church.
At the auction of the church
property in 1976, Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Mann purchased the silver
font as a keepsake.
The late Mr. and Mrs. Archie
Mann, who farmed in the Moncrieff
area for years are great-grandparents
of William. He is also the grandson
of Mrs. Mary Beth Mann of
Waterloo and the late William Mann,
formerly of RR1, Monkton, as well
as Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Dolson of
Erin.
Listowel resident, Mrs. Marion
Roberts attended the service and
family dinner at the Dotson home as
did Janice Pfeifer, Baden; Sarah
Ryder, Brantford; Mr. and Mrs.

collecting empty print cartridges
from both inkjet and laser printers as
a fundraiser. It will raise a little extra
money as well as help with
recycling.
There will be an Easter breakfast
following Walton's service on Easter

of brother-in-law John Gill of

and returned early Sunday morning.
Lots of locals attended the
Women's Day Out held in Blyth.
Enjoying a delightful lunch and
afternoon were Mary Humphries,
Marie Coutts, Marg Bennett, Olene
