Entertainment & Leisure Curling Club celebrates 40 years Brussels Two hundred and sixty-five people attended the Brussels Curling Club's 40th anniversary celebration on Saturday night at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Many old pictures, write-ups and trophies were on display. Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal, a former curler, gave the curling Grace. MC. Mery Bauer, welcomed everyone and dinner was served by Cardiff Catering. The club was formed in 1964 with D.A. Rann as president. First vice-president was Ken Tyerman and second vice- president was Stewart Lowe. The treasurer was Cecil Parker and secretary was George Mutter. Hullett Provincial Wildlife Area will be hosting the Huron Fringe Field Naturalists on April 3, when they visit for a day of birding and hiking. Tom Lobb, a long-time member of the Field Naturalists who has led many of their nature hikes, will be on hand to help with identification of the many species of waterfowl and other birds which inhabit the Hullett-Marsh. The Huron 'Fringe Field Naturalists began in 1985 and since that time the organization has grown to more than 170 members. Members are involved in birding festivals, bird counts and other environmental initiatives. They actively support efforts to strengthen the eastern bluebird The North Huron County Museum, located on 273 Josephine St. in Wingham will be holding the second annual F.E. Madill Art Show. Send in a pledge sheet to Box 128, Brussels so we can begin cataloguing articles and save the Branch many phone calls. Elections are in April and we would like to see some new faces population by placing and monitoring bluebird boxes. Of the 190 species of birds that have been recorded at the marsh approximately 120 can regularly be found at Hullett. The area is also on the migration route of many species with the tundra swan in its thousands being the most well known visitor. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of birds such as grebes, geese, hawks, song birds and ducks including mallards, buffleheads, goldeneye and mergansers. As an added treat the tundra swans have recently returned on their way to the Arctic. Greetings were brought from Morris-Turnberry by mayor Dorothy Kelly and from Huron East by mayor Joe Seili. Gary Pipe introduced the guest speaker Wilma Rathwell. She told of the club's taking an interest in the Branch affairs. Contact any Executive member or drop into the Branch for info. Speedy recovery wishes go to Sandy Huether who has been in hospital. We hope she feels better soon. Summerhill Road. This lot is located between Wildlife Line and Kinburn Line approximately eight kilometres northeast of Clinton. Summerhill Road can be reached directly from Hwy 4 or by turning north off Hwy 8, onto Kinburn Line. The fields and trails will still be damp so appropriate footwear should be worn. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars. viewing scopes and cameras. If the weather is good bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the hike.
