The prizes for the year were given out by the president Dona Knight. The minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer's report were read by the secretary-treasurer Susan Alexander. Over 250 tickets were sold for the 40th anniversary. The following executive was elected for 2004-2005: past president, Dona Knight: president. Marilyn Jones; first vice-president. Gary Pipe: second _vice-president. Jo-Ann McDonald; secretary- treasurer. Susan Alexander; draw committee, Brenda McIntosh, Steve Steiss, Brian Warwick; bonspiel committee. Orval Bauer. Murray Pepper. Jeff Cardiff; ice, Mery Bauer, pres, reporter, Nora Stephenson. February-Mar:h curling winners were: first, 50 points, Stewart Steiss, Jeff Cardiff, Ruth Bauer, Sheila Cousins; second, 46 points, Mike Alexander, Jean Bewley. Rose Kellington, Jason Konarski; third, 42.5 points, Jo-Ann McDonald, Steve Knight. Leanne Konarski, Catrina Josling; fourth, 39 points, Tom Warwick, Travis Koehler. Amanda Dorsch, Brenda McIntosh. Winning the D.A. Rann trophy with the most points was the rink of Stewart Steiss. The Brussels Bantam Girls hockey team hosted North East Lambton for game one of the Western Ontario Girls Hockey League championship on Sunday, March 21. Brussels had come a long way from their seventh-place finish to play in the C final series. It was a close game with Brussels goaltender Brianne Wheeler seeing and stopping a lot of rubber, but unfortunately North East Lambton left with a 2-0 win. Brussels headed to Thedford for The Blyth Pre-Tykes travelled to Seaforth on March 18 for the annual Pre-Tykes tournament. The first game was played against Dorchester. The Blyth squad fought hard but only managed one goal, game two of the finals and tied it I- I early in the second with the goal from Michelle Cousins, assisted by Lindsay Watson. Brussels just couldn't hang on, however. The final score was 3-1 for North East Lambton. The girls left with their heads held high knowing they had a great season that ended with them winning a silver medallion. Cousins and Bridget Blake will be- representing the Bantam Girls at the all-star game Saturday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m. in Parkhill. scored by Drew Bromley, assisted by '' Colton Rodger and Dawson Coultes. The second game which proved to be a better matchup, was against Seaforth. Starting off the scoring for Blyth was Hunter Dale with assistance from Owen Weber and Rodger. The scoring went back and forth with Weber scoring the second goal with assistance from Owen Andrews. The last four goals were scored by Dale, assisted by Brittany Walden with three assists, Rodger and Justin Rodger with two. The final score was 7-6 for Seaforth. The third and final game brought the little Bulldogs up against Mitchell. This proved to be another close one. Dale started the scoring with an assist by Craig Raynard. Bromley gets credit for two goals and helping him out were Coultes, Dale. Weber and Shelby Higgins. Blyth's fourth goal was scored by Coultes. The final score was 5-4 for Mitchell. Work hard, play hard The Wingham Golf and Curling Club hosted this year's Tim Hortons Colt and Trophy Provincial Curling Championships. The four-day event began on March 24 with people competing from all over Ontario including London, Ayr, West Ottawa, Oakville and Forest. This game, between South London and Quinte, shows how hard the players work in hopes of winnng the championships. (Vicky Bremner photo) M.
