THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 1, 2004. By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-6236 887-9231 The calendar may say when spring arrives but it is only on the authority of Mother Nature that we truly believe. So last week we still wondered if winter could be over. even if it said it was past the official calendar day. This week it's a sure thing - the tundra swans have arrived. The strange sounds and sights of these FROM BRUSSELS big birds overhead tells it all. Their incredible journey is in progress and With thanks Murray McArter, on behalf of the Brussels arena, and Jill Sholdice, past president of the Brussels Skating Club accepted cheques in the amount of $500 and $200 respectively from Bill Kellington, for the Oddfellows, centre. The money was raised from last year's chicken dinner. This year's event will be held on April 21 at the community centre. (Bonnie Gropp photo) the-cycle of life continues. A drive on Sunday down the Centre sideroad, officially Clyde Line, offered reassurance that the sure signs of spring have arrived. Just north of IBrowntown Road a large number of these magnificent birds were resting and eating and flying and swimming. A spent corn field with a large spot of collected water was serving as their own private country inn. All the needed amenities were available for rest and comfort, distance from people, food and water - their oasis in Huron Cotinty. So as they keep to their schedule of life, ours too continues in its own cycle. yes. spring is here. Wouldn't it be great if you could redo your very best ones, the ones that went according to plan and were very successful? It doesn't work like that - so play well and enjoy April Fool's 2004.
