Now you have a chance to say thanks. Nominate that special person for the 19th Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards. Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the community. DeVries had stated that he had accepted employment outside the area and felt he would not be able to complete his term effectively. He requested the leave. ***. Council authorized the purchase of dress uniforms for the members of the Wingham Fire Department with the township's share being $7,400. *** At the regular meeting of council, March 15. accounts totalling $375,396.21 were approved for payment. *** Several recommendations from the School will be making a door-to- door canvass selling daffodils during the week with all proceeds to going to the Canadian Cancer Society. For the month of April the Legion Auxiliary will be having a food drive for the North Huron Food Bank. You can drop off non-perishable foods at the Memorial Hall or if you wish to donate, the Grade 8 students will gladly accept your donation. Tricia Daer of London visited at the home of Don and Marilyn Craig on Saturday morning and also visited with Helen Stonehouse of Belgrave the same day. Greeting at Blyth United Church on March 21 were Barb and Doug Howson. Ushering was- Lori Van Wyk. Guest musician was Margaret public works committee were approved. Street sweeping in Blyth will be done by the county at a cost of $100 per hour. Director 'of public works, Ralph Campbell and urban roads foreman S. This is God's Wondrous World, was sung while the children gathered at the front. Rev. Eugen Bannerman's story for the children was about sign language. He explained to them the different signs and what they stood for. The dramatized gospel reading, from Luke 23: 26-32. was read by Brandilyn and Wyatt Bearss and Rev. Bannerman. The lectionary reading from Isaiah 55 was followed by the responsive psalm with the choir singing the refrain. Rev. It also showed who Jesus was. It gave a message of love and real challenge to love your enemies after being beaten as Jesus had been. Ending with the celebration of the Last Supper, it was the greatest Easter story ever told, he said.
