Looking for local heroes
There are so many people out there who do
so much to improve their community.
Now you have a chance to say thanks.
Nominate that special person for the 19th
Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards.
Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of
the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an
award for contribution to the community. If you know someone you
think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot and send it in. You
may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee
should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and
he or she didn't win, please feel free to try again.

The Legion Auxiliary April I,
Daffodil Luncheon, is at the Legion
Hall from _11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Grade 8 class of Blyth Public
At a special meeting of North
Huron council on March 9, councillor
Ralph DeVries was granted a three-
month leave of absence effective
March 22.
DeVries had stated that he had
accepted employment outside the area
and felt he would not be able to
complete his term effectively. He
requested the leave.

Council authorized the purchase of
dress uniforms for the members of the
Wingham Fire Department with the
township's share being $7,400.

At the regular meeting of council,
March 15. accounts totalling
$375,396.21 were approved for
payment.

Several recommendations from the
School will be making a door-to-
door canvass selling daffodils during
the week with all proceeds to going
to the Canadian Cancer Society.
For the month of April the Legion
Auxiliary will be having a food drive
for the North Huron Food Bank. You
can drop off non-perishable foods at
the Memorial Hall or if you wish to
donate, the Grade 8 students will
gladly accept your donation.
Tricia Daer of London visited at
the home of Don and Marilyn Craig
on Saturday morning and also
visited with Helen Stonehouse of
Belgrave the same day.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on March 21 were Barb and Doug
Howson. Ushering was- Lori Van
Wyk. Guest musician was Margaret
public works committee were
approved.
Street sweeping in Blyth will be
done by the county at a cost of $100
per hour.

Campbell and urban roads foreman S.
Price were authorized to attend the
Association of Ontario Road
Supervisors seminar March 31 in
Dorchester. The registration fee of
$65 per person will be paid by the
municipality.
Two public works employees will
attend the truck rodeo at a cost of $65-
$80 per driver.
Six public works employees, which
will include Campbell, will attend the
municipal trade show in Orillia.
The municipality will have all
licensed vehicles with a CVOR
inspected each year by a licensed
Kai.
The choir anthem was Stand Up
and Bless the Lord.
The children's hymn. This is
God's Wondrous World, was sung
while the children gathered at the
front. Rev. Eugen Bannerman's story
for the children was about sign
language. He explained to them the
different signs and what they stood
for.
The dramatized gospel reading,
from Luke 23: 26-32. was read by
Brandilyn and Wyatt Bearss and
Rev. Bannerman. The lectionary
reading from Isaiah 55 was followed
by the responsive psalm with the
choir singing the refrain.
Rev. Bannerman's message to the
adults was The Passion of the Christ.

A resolution from the County of
Hastings asking for a vital statistics
database for births and death notices
was given council's endorsement.

Council also supported a resolution
from Horton Township regarding
Rev. Bannerman had been to see the
show twice the previous week. It
was the best Biblical film he had
seen, he said. It showed the suffering
of Jesus. The film was about faith,
hope, loVe and forgiveness. It also
showed who Jesus was. It gave a
message of love and real challenge
to love your enemies after being
beaten as Jesus had been. Ending
with the celebration of the Last
Supper, it was the greatest Easter
story ever told, he said.

Bullseye
It was a carnival atmosphere upstairs at the Blyth and
District, Community Centre with cotton candy, shuffleboard,
an auction, midway games and tons of tasty treats for all to
enjoy. The room was filled with laughter and fun during the
Blyth Christian Reformed Church's annual bazaar on March
