The March break was a success
according to anyone I spoke to —
sleep-ins and sleepovers
organized fun and games days,
skating time and games. of shiny
as well as road hockey and some
swimming. Darn it's now back to
routine.
North Huron was well
represented in Lambton County
on Saturday. A Building for Peace
program was held at their United
Church Camp organized by the
World Outreach folks. Be'grave,
Brussels and Ethel were well
represented by about 18 people.
Our ministers, Ethel and Joan
helped organize the day on
building peace in our world. Peace
is a very complicated issue and is
not just about war. Any injustice,
imbalance of power or fear makes
peace impossible. Learning about
issues of conflict in our world
through discussion, games, words,
music, pictures and thoughts were
used to show us that we directly
affect and so can influence peace
in our world. It was a good day.
Speaking of peace — when the
gossip gets pretty thick then I hear
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The week at the Brussels
Legion Branch began with a fish
fry for the Grey Twp. firefighters
and friends following the mutual
aid meeting held at the Ethel Fire
Hall. Those from the surrounding
area fire departments heard
speakers, then enjoyed the
Brussels Legion deep-fried fish.
It was a little chilly but
Comrades Murray Lowe, Rick
McDonald, Lisa Glanville, Julie
Harrison and Jo-Ann Mcdonald
received unending compliments
on the great meal.
The Cadets met Tuesday
evening as usual and practised
drills as well as got ready for their
weekend away. The bus arrived
Friday evening at the Branch to
pick up a combined Brussels
Palmerston Corps to travel to
Peacekeeper Park, south of
London.
Their weekend included
outdoor camping, air rifle
shooting, absailing, night
navigation -and day compassing.
They practised winter survival
techniques, campfire building and
participated in the obstacle course
competition.
The Thursday night dart league
saw 12 players taking aim at the
boards. The tie-breaker game for
top spot saw Norm Dobson and
Ron Schmidt emerge with first
about it: If it's just the chatty
harmless kind, I'm not in the loop
and so don't hear about it — thank
goodness. So a story about an
incident in a local church has been
fueleds beyond recognition. A
mistake was made by some people
and it was looked after in a very
church-like manner. The wise
people of the church thought it
was a private and personal issue.
Word on the street last week was
sensational and absurd.
Words hurt and last a long, long
time. Untrue words have been
spoken, judgments have been
made all without knowing or it
seems caring about actual facts.
Please stop spreading stories that
you were not directly involved in.
It could be you that gets hurt the
next time.

Harrison finishing as second. The
men's high shot was by Ron with
121 points. The men's high start
was by Larry Glousher with a 107
and ladies' high start by Lynda
Shaw with 99 points.
Friday night's supper was stew.
This week is pizza casserole.
On Saturday, the fish fry crew
was off to Seaforth. They served a
crowd of 180. Cooking this time
were Andy Overholt, Doug Koch,
Mike Dauphin, Pete Exel, Rick
McDonald, Murray Lowe and
Lisa Glanville. "Great job" and
"delicious" were heard many
times.
