Over two days, Klaver talked to the students about dairy farming careers, nutrition and processing. Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 2,793 head of cattle sold through week Total receipts for the week ending March 12 were 2,793 head of cattle, 445 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a steady market. Fancy steers and heifers sold $90 to $100 with sales to $120. Choice steers and heifers sold $82 to $86. Second-cut steers and heifers sold $74 to $81. Top quality cows sold $1 to $2 higher with D3 cows selling $4 to $5 higher. On Thursday the good veal sold $2 to $5 higher while the plain and heavier veal sold under pressure. The lambs sold on a strong active trade at prices $10 higher than last week. The overweight lambs sold under pressure. On Friday the calves sold $5 higher with the year- lings trading on a steady market. There were 728 steers on offer. Enoch Martin, Linwood, consigned one blue steer weighing 1,395 lbs. which sold for $120. His overall offering of fourteen steers averaged 1,395 lbs. selling for an average price of $100.87. Twenty-six steers consigned by Al Renning, Exeter, averaged 1,443 lbs. selling for an average price of $90.57 with his top limousin steer weighing 1,420 lbs. selling for $108.25. Osiah Weber, Mount Forest, consigned two limou- sin steers averaging 1,298 lbs. which sold for $102. His overall offering of nine steers averaged 1,324 lbs. sell- ing for an average price of $90.22 Eleven steers consigned by Amos M. There were 221 head of veal on. offer. Beef sold $75 to $90 with sales to $101; Good Holstein, $70 to $80 with sales to $88; Medium Holstein, $45 to $60; Plain Holstein, $20 to $40. Henry M. Martin, Teeswater, consigned one limousin veal steer weighing 730 lbs. which sold to Abingdon Meat Packers for $101. His overall consignment of two beef veal calves averaged 725 lbs. selling for an average price of $95.54. One black steer consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, weighed 700 lbs. selling to Abingdon Meat Packers for $95.50. Bert and Linda Renkema, Londesborough, consigned one charolais veal steer weighing 725 lbs. which sold for $94.50. Their overall offering of two beef calves averaged 768 lbs. selling for an average price of $90.54. Lambs, under 50 lbs., sold to $185; 50 - 64 lbs., $149 to $185; 65 - 79 lbs., $136 to $185; 80 - 94 lbs., The Ontario Retail Farm Equipment Dealers' Association Convention announced its slate offi- cers for 2004 which includes a local man who was named first vice-pres- ident. Brian McGavin of McGavin Farm Supply Ltd. in Walton was named first vice-president during the orga- nization's convention and annual general February meeting in Niagara Falls. McGavin, along with other newly- elected officers, will represent the farm and outdoor power equipment dealers of Ontario.
