Sports Midget Girls advance Brussels Midget Girls have qualified for the provincial tournament in Mississauga, April 16, 17 and 18. To qualify they had to play off against St. Thomas, Belmont and Woodstock with a home-and-home. They ended up beating Belmont 1-0 both games, Woodstock, tieing 1-1 and winning 2-1 and St. Thomas 2-0. They were all close games with lots of excitement on the ice. The team is also in league playoffs. Because of their standings they had a bye the first round. Second round they played off against St. Marys, beating them 5-0 and 8-0. They are now waiting to play Exeter for the league championships. This year's team consists of: Nicki Berfelz, Rachel Elliott, Sarah McDonald, Danielle Good, Carmen Carnochan, Stacey Harding, Tara O'Reilly, Laura Ritchie, Ashley Ritchie, Alicia Dick, Mary Lou VanMeeteren, Kristen Palmer, Amanda Herefort. Coaches are Jim McDonald and Doug Berfelz while trainers are Linda McDonald and Barb Berfelz. Brussels players took turns in net. Tim Waechter had a save, Scott Dolmage stopped one, Logan Clarke FROM CRANBROOK Board meets The annual Cranbrook Hall board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March *23 at 7:30 p.m. at the hall. The card parties will begin again on Friday, April 2 at 8 p.m. The dart scores reported this week were Kathy Workman with 140 and Frank Workman with 134. Rev. Theresa McDonald Lee is leading a Bible study on the book of Ruth, Thursday mornings for five weeks during Lent at the manse in Mon kton. The community extends sympathy to Mery Schneider and the Hart family on the passing of Lois. Sympathy also to Murray Edwards and family on Lorraine's passing. Both ladies were members of the Cranbrook community in the past and lived in Brussels the last few years. Stewart and Madelene Steiss, accompanied by Pauline Patterson and Bill and Donna Quipp, spent a few days in Florida. They were visiting Madelene and Bill's sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Tom Wolfe. stopped one, Lexi Smith stopped two, Andrew Patton stopped one, and Kai Hiemstra saved one. Despite this BCH still managed to put two in the net. Not to be discouraged though, Brussels took the action to the BCH The Cranbrook Ladies Aide meeting was held on Thursday, March II at the home of Eleanor Stevenson. She opened the meeting reading background material about Panama. Donna Knight, Brenda Perrie, Yvonne Knight and Mrs. Stevenson used the printed order of worship from the 2004 World Day of Prayer There were seven tables of euchre in play at the Belgrave Women's Institute Hall on Wednesday, March 10. Winners were: high lady, Mary McIntosh; second high lady, Elizabeth McKercher; lone hands, Mary Taylor; high man, George Inglis; second high man, Dennis Leddy; lone hands, Allen Edgar. There is no euchre on Wednesday, March 17. The next euchre is Wednesday, March 24 at 8 p.m. At the Community Centre on Friday, March 12 there were nine tables of shoot in place. Winners were: high lady, Jane Grasby; second high lady, Lillian Appleby; most shoots, Marie Stewart; low lady, Aileen Leddy; high man, Lloyd Appleby; second high man, Jack Taylor; most shoots, Ross Taylor; low man, Ivy Cloakey. The next shoot is Friday, March 26. net. Goals were scored by Hiemstra, five; Smith, four; Waechter, and Taylor Higgins. They defeated BCH 11-2. The Brussels Pre-Tykes take to the ice on Wednesday night against their parents at 6:30 p.m. The Blyth Pre-Tykes travelled to Bayfield for a match against Zurich on Sunday, March 14. Hunter Dale opened the scoring for his team, assisted by Owen Andrews. Zurich scored the next two goals with Dale scoring the second goal for Blyth, assisted by Drew Bromley and Sydney Wightman. Justin Rodger made two spectacular saves for Blyth to keep the score tied. Blyth's third goal was scored by Season ends for Dogs The Bantam Bulldogs lost a close semi-final series to the Milverton Royals. After winning game one of the best-of-three series, they lost games "two- and three. Game two was played in Blyth on Monday, March 8. The score was 8-3 for Milverton. Scoring for Blyth were Trevor McArter and Johnathon McDowell with two. Assists went to Derek Youngblut, McDowell, Richard Gregg and Thomas LeComte. Game three was played in Milverton on Thursday, March 11. the final score was 1-0 for Milverton. Scoring the lone goal was Anthony Kropf. The Bantam Bulldogs wish the Milverton Royals all the best as they move on to the Lockridge finals to face Mount Forest. Dale, assisted by Dawson Coultes. After a lot of confusion in front of Zurich's net Rodger scored Blyth's fourth goal assisted by Shelby Higgins. Bromley had a breakaway but great netminding by Zurich kept the goal out. The final goal was scored by Dale but he couldn't do it without the great assistance of Owen Weber and Bromley. The final score was 5-5. A great game was played by all, but they were getting a little tired at the end with only three spares on the bench. The scripture readings were Psalm 40: 1- - 5, 9-11 and 17 and John .Z0: 1-18. Yvonne Knight read the minutes of the 2003 annual Ladies Aide meeting and it was reported that they have $100.86 left from last year. Officers for this year are: past president, Donna Knight; President, Eleanor Stevenson; -secretary, Yvonne Knight; treasurer and press reporter, Freda Crawford; auditors, Madelene Steiss and one other person. It was decided to purchase new curtains for the church basement. The April WMS meeting was planned.
