Tykes have fun in tourney
Doggin' him
It was a well-fought contest on Sunday night in Blyth as the
Atom Bulldogs met with Embro in the OMHA semi-final
series action. Unfortunately the locals came up short (Vicky

Dogs down 1 in series
The Blyth Atom Bulldogs found
out the hard way that the rest of the
season won't be handed to them,
after Embro handed them a 3-1 loss
in game one of the best of five
OMHA Atom E semi-final.
Blyth came out slowly, trying to
feel out their opponents, who did the
same to the Dogs. Midway through
the first frame, Embro broke the
scoreless tie, as they found the twine
behind netminder Kayla Black.
The young Dogs looked like they
had "rolled over and played dead" as
Embro proceeded to score two= more
goals in the first five minutes of the
second. The Atom coaches had seen
enough and called a time-out to cool
down the pups. This seemed to work,
as the team played better in their
own end, while only getting two
shots on the Embro net over two
periods.
After a break between periods,
Blyth started to show some life,
getting the puck deep into Embro
territory for much of the third, and
with 1:50 remaining, defencemen
Tyler Black took matters into his
own hands, and scored a coast-to-
coast goal, assisted by Matt Popp.
Blyth proceeded to pull the
goaltender in favour of the extra
attacker, and although they applied
pressure, could not bury one behind
the Embro keeper, losing
3-1.
Blyth travelled to Embro Tuesday
at 6:30 p.m. to play game two of the
series, and will return home
Thursday at 7 p.m. for game three. If
necessary, Blyth will travel to Embro
Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and return
home Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
The Dogs hope to see the Blyth
arena jam-packed Thursday.
