McGavin's started Walton's week
by hosting a Hardi Sprayer Clinic on
Tuesday. There were approximately
45 interested folks in attendance to
enjoy lunch and following program.
Guest speakers included Helmut
Spieser and Gary McCutcheon.
Home from Florida is Margery
Huether. She's busy catching up
with family and friends.

IDELLA WILSON
Idella Frances (Bryans) Wilson of
Brussels. passed away suddenly at
her. residence on Tuesday, Feb. 17,
2004. Born in Morris Twp. on Sept.
8. 1925, Idella was in her 79th year.
Idella .will be sadly missed by her
children Paul Wilson and his wife
Libby of Brampton. Greg Wilson
and friend Sharon Montgomery of
Brussels and Linda Andrew and her
husband Allan of Lucknow. She was
also loved by her nine grandchildren:
Adel, Jordan, Mary, Joan, Holly,
Tina, Kimberley, Shane, Trevor and
Ainsley, and by her three great-
grandchildren.
Idella was predeceased by her
parents James Bryans and Ella Mae
Hopper. and by her brother Charlie.
Blake, Kevin McNaughton. Steve
Knight. Christopher Becker, Joel
Dalton, Bruce McDonald, Chris
Lee. Adam Hamilton and Terry
Nichol.
Supporting the McGavin bonspiel
were lots of area men in Seaforth last
week. Team Rick McDonald, Brad
and Steve Knight and Carmen
Bernard enjoyed a great day and
came home with fourth prize.
Supporting the Brussels Curling
Club bonspiel were a mix and match
of Waltoners. Dividing up among
the four teams were Rick, Jo-Ann,
Scott McDonald; Jason Konarski;
Val and Matthew Shortreed; Dave
and Brenda Linton; Steve Knight,
Marnie Dingman; Carmen, Mary,
Michael Bernard; Rachael deBoer
and friend Laurie and Sandra
Josling.
They shared first, third, sixth and
10th prizes.

Friends were received by the
family from 7 - 9 p.m. Friday at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels and two hours prior to the
funeral service conducted Saturday,
Feb. 21 at 2:30 p.m. from Brussels
United Church. Mrs. Joan Golden
officiated.
The Brussels United Church choir
in tribute to Idella performed
Wonderful Words of Life.
Pallbearers were Shane Wilson,
Trevor Wilson, Allan Andrew,
Jordan Andrew, Loui DaSilva and
Murray McDonald.
Spring interment will be in
Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
the Brussels United Church.

Travelling to Toronto on Friday
night were Scott McDonald and
Kevin Murray. They were lucky to
get tickets for the Raptors game
against the New Jerseys.
Unfortunately the Raptors lost and
Vince Carter wasn't playing due to
injury.
We hope Maxine Houston is
feeling better soon as she has been in
and out of hospital this past week.

meeting
The Walton Women's Institute met
at the home of Marjorie Humphries
on Wednesday afternoon. There were
eight in attendance.
The Ode was sung and the Mary
Stewart Collect was repeated. This
was followed by a reading by
president Leona McDonald. The
business was conducted and the
District meeting report was given.
The Molesworth Institute is
disbanding on April 6.
The Associated Country Women of
the World (ACWW) church service
will be held April 25 at Brussels
Mennonite Fellowship at 10:30 a.m.
The upcoming District annual will be
held at Melville Presbyterian Church
on Tuesday, May 11.
Ruth Axtmann had a display of
some antiques and explained about
them and their use.
Lunch was served by Marjorie and
Brenda Perrie. The next meeting will
be hosted by Mary Humphries.

congregation members at Duff's
United. Walton on the last Sunday
after Epiphany.
Announcements included the news
that applications for opportunities at
Camp Menesetung are due this
weekend. Foster families are needed
for children in our area. Contact the
Huron Perth Children's Aid society.
A thank you was read from the
Christmas Bureau for the generosity
given in support of the 50 families
receiving support from the Bureau. It
was a brighter Christmas for 119
children this year.
During the Prayer of Confession
and Assurance of Pardon the
congregation was invited to come
forward and -receive the sign of the
cross in ashes on their hand as a sign
of repentance.
Upon reflection and following
confession the congregation, as a
sign of God'S forgiveness, was
invited to come forward and wash
away the ashes on their hand by
dripping a piece of paper towel into
the font and then wiping their hand.
The scripture reading was given by
Marion Godkin. Rev. Joan
Tuchlinsky's reflection was entitled
A Lenten Treasure. The Sacrament
of communion was presented by
Graeme, Helen and Michael Craig
and Rev. Joan. The offering was
collected by Lavern Godkin and
Graeme Craig.
Wednesday morning the Ontario
Early Years play and learn group
were at Duff's United Church. The
few children and caregivers enjoyed
colouring macaroni and making the
macaroni into necklaces.
They read the book All in One

The Walton Little School Acorn
class enjoyed a visit from their
grandparents and special friends.
Thirteen grandparents visited on
Wednesday and Thursday.
They read a book about grandmas
and one about grandpas.
The children gave them cards they
had made especially for them. They
made special photo frames together
and took an instant photo to place in
them. They had a special snack of
juice and cookies made by the
students.
