How far will it go?

with many participants from the area. (Elyse DeBruyn photo)
The Blyth Atom Reps travelled to
Ayton on Sunday and brought home
a WOAA title for the first time in
quite a while. Blyth hasn't won a
WOAA Atom title since 91-92 when
current Atom manager Mike Haggitt
was an Atom player.
The team was hungry after a tough
5-2 loss Thursday at home and didn't
want to come home empty handed.
Blyth and Normanby played a strong
defensive first period, not wanting to
give up the first goal. Early in the
third, John Lecomte stepped up to
the challenge; and beat Normanby's
goaltender William Haines of
Wingham. Caleb Brohm assisted on
the goal.
The Ethel euchre was held on
Monday, Feb. 16 with 10 tables in
play.

Normanby evened the score less
than a minute later, but Blyth didn't
give up, and with only 6.3 seconds
left in the second frame, Cody
Richmond broke free .and scored a
breakaway goal assisted by
LeComte.
Blyth took the lead into the third
period and with 6:13 left in the
game, Adam Cronin got in alone to
put the nail in the coffin, with assists
going to Jonathon Atkinson and
Tyler Black.
Goaltender Kayla Black, stole the
show in the Blyth net, making many
huge saves, including a breakaway
by the Normanby captain.

Sorry,
our mistake
There was an error in last week's
report regarding the Midget Girls
hockey team.
The squad that took the Silver
Stick title in Sarnia was the Elma-
Logan Midget Girls team which
includes two Blyth players Michelle
Cook and Kendall Whitfield.
The Brussels team lost in over-
time to Waterloo in the semi-final.
We apologize for any confusion
this may have caused.
