(Elyse DeBruyn photo) Community Club hears bus report The Evening Group of the UCW met at the home of Barbara Anderson on Tuesday, Feb. 2 with 14 present. This was the first meeting using the new structure. This year no leader was appointed so each group takes leadership for the meeting when they do the program. Mrs. Anderson opened the meeting with a poem So Much To Thank God For. Donna Shaw and Alice Storteboom conducted the worship with the theme, The Simple Life. Mrs. Shaw read the meditation and Mrs. Storteboom read a true story entitled The Crocheted Tablecloth. The business was conducted by Mrs. Anderson. The minutes and treasurer's reports were read by Muriel Coultes. Mabel Wheeler gave the card report. Mrs. Coultes conducted the program and used material she received from the National Church. A new campaign is starting in March entitled Sisters in Spirit. This is a program to raise funds to help end violence against Aboriginal women across Canada. Mrs. Coultes read stories about missing women in B.C. She also read excerpts of Alan Slater's report to London conference of his time spent with the peacekeepers in Iraq. He spent three months in Iraq working and supporting local men and their families. Mrs. Shaw led in a contest and Louise Bosman and Laura Johnston served lunch. FROM BELGRAVE B. Anderson hosts Evening Group I The Belgrave Community Club held its monthly meeting on Friday, Feb. 6 with 28 attending. Donna Shaw gave a report on the March 17 bus top. Entertainment was provided by the Peppers with John Macintosh as guest soloist. President Muriel Coultes urged members to. send a letter to Carol Mitchell, MPP in support of the Seniors Ontario Drug Program. The seniors held a successful dessert shoot party on Friday, Feb. 13. The March meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in the Community Centre. The community extends sincere sympathy to Sharon Campbell, Doris and Leonard Robinson, Neil and Helen Rintoul, Anne and Dave Oberholtzer and Donna and Hany Gutoskie in the loss of a dear mother Norma Rintoul. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Steve (Angela), Scott (Traci) and Stuart Rintoul; Jeff (Lisa) and Julie_ Oberholtzer, Michelle (Darren) Lenson, Mike Guloskie, Heather Campbell, Mark (Kendra), Tracy and_ Tim Robinson and great: grandchildren Tyson Rintoul, Joshua and Shelby Lenson and Mason Campbell Porter. The World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church. 6 tables in play at euchre There were six tables of euchre in play at the Women's Institute Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Winners were: high lady, Mabel Wheeler; second high lady, Ada Taylor; lone hands, Alice Nicholson; high man, Ross Taylor; second high man, Laura Johnston; lone hands, Jim Coultes. There is euchre again on Wednesday, Feb. 18. At the Community Centre on Friday, Feb. 13 there were 10 tables of shoot in play. Winners were: high lady, Lois Chamney; second high lady, Aileen Leddy; most shoots, Mary Taylor; low lady, Ada Taylor; high man, Lloyd Appleby; second high man, Jack Taylor; most shoots, Jim Coultes; low man, Pat Honking.
