Obituaries Majestic meets in library
NORMA EVA RINTOUL
Mrs. Norma Rintoul of
Whitechurch passed away at
Braemar Retirement Centre,
Wingham on Wednesday, Feb. 11,
2004. She was 88.
The former Norma Caldwell was
the beloved wife of the late William
E. Rintoul who predeceased her in
1984. She was the dear mother of
Neil and Helen Rintoul of RR2,
Lucknow, Anne and Dave
Oberholtzer of Waterloo, Donna and
Harry Gutoskie of Kitchener, Sharon
Campbell of Belgrave and Doris and
Leonard Robinson of RRI,
Belgrave. She is also survived by
grandchildren Steve (Angela), Scott
(Traci), and Stuart Rintoul ; Jeff
(Lisa) and Julie Oberholtzer,
Michelle (Darren) Lenson, Mike
Gutoskie, Heather Campbell, Mark
(Kendra), Tracy and Tim Robinson
and great-grandchildren Tyson
Rintoul, Joshua and Shelby Lenson
and Mason Campbell-Porter.
Mrs. Rintoul was predeceased by
her parents George and Grace
(Radford) Caldwell, her sister
Thelma Cardiff, her brother Gordon
Caldwell and her great-grandson
Riley Lenson.
Visitation was at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Thursday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9
p.m. The funeral service was held at
the funeral home on Friday at 1:30
p.m.
Rev. John Neilson officiated.
Spring interment will be in
Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital Foundation or
the charity of your choice would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
ELLA STECKLEY
Ella (Jantzi) Steckley of RRI,
Bluevale, passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Sunday,
Feb. 8, 2004. Born in West Branch,
Michigan, Ella was in her 84th year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Solomon Steckley. She was the
dear mother of Ezra Steckley, Arnold.
and Kathy Steckley, Wayne and
Erica Steckley, all of RRI, Bluevale
and Clarence Steckley of New
Strathmore, Alberta. She was the
dear foster mother of Jim Clyne of
RRI, Bluevale. Mrs. Steckley was
the loved sister of Ira and Esther
Jantzi of Wellesley and Ezra and
Verna Jantzi of Milverton. She was
also loved by her grandchildren
Loretta, Kim, Donna, Gerald,
Warren, Cindy, Sherry and Duane;
her great-grandchildren Taylor,
Candra, Alexandria, Emma Rose and
Cole and by her sister-in-law
Marguerite Jantzi of Stratford.
Mrs. Steckley was predeceased by
her parents Ezra and Dorothy Jantzi,
son Clare in infancy, daughter
Victoria, granddaughter Amanda,
sister Alma Beisinger and brothers
Allan and Clarence.
Friends were received from 2 - 4
and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels. The funeral service was
conducted on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 2
p.m. from Brussels Mennonite
Fello.wship. Pastor Brent Kipfer
officiated.
Spring interment will be in
Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
„memorial donations may be made to
the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship,
the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or
to the charity of one's choice.
The Majestic Womeh's Institute
met in the' Brussels Library on
Wednesday, Feb. II at 1:30 p.m.
with 16 present. The president,
Kathy Bridge opened the meeting
with a reading followed by the Ode
and Mary Stewart Collect repeated
in unison.
The treasurer, Yvonne Knight,
reported that $60.75, the proceeds
from a secret auction last month,
were sent to Focus High for WI.
The Guelph-area convention will
be held in Fergus on Oct. 21 with
registration at 9 a.m. Each branch is
to bring a $10 article for- the penny
auction.
On Sept.. .6, 2005 there will be a
provincial quilt show called Quilts,
Quilts and Bears.
The place will be announced at a
later date. They are expecting 800
quilts. Tickets will be available at
the Guelph Area Codvention.

The sermon, Healings, was of the
miracles Jesus performed to heal the
sick. The first example was Jesus's
second healing when he put mud and
spit on a blind man's eyes and sent
him to a quiet place to recover. Later
he healed blindness with touch only,
once having affirmed that those
afflicted believed in him, but he still
told them to tell no one.
The last example was of the blind
beggar who sat by the road near
Jericho, and cried out, "Jesus, Son of
David, have mercy on me". He was
cured instantly because his faith was
so strong.
Mrs. Mitchell said that these
stories tell people that they may need
The WI quilt was to he put up
ready to quilt on Feb. 17. Tickets
will he sold on this quilt and the
draw will he in September. Edna
Pletch is to look after a tote bag for
the second prize and a gift certificate
for the third place.
Plans were . made for a soup and
sandwich lunch followed by euchre
to be held on Thursday, March 6 at
noon in the library.
The WI will pay a portion of the
cost to repair the large village sign
on the west side of Brussels. Also the
WI sign on the west side of Brussels
has been missing and will be
replaced.
Ruth Bauer gave a reading, which
was followed by the district
director's report of the executive
meeting. Lucy Hesse is district
director.
Molesworth WI is disbanding on
April 6. Plans are being voted on to
to hear something more than one
time to get it right. And also that
healing can take time, even with
faith.
The collection was taken up by
Bill King, Maurice Douma, Jeff
Cardiff and Bill Aitchison.
On the bulletin board of events for
this week, we have Women's Guild
and WMS meeting on Tuesday night
at 8 p.m., afternoon Bible Study at
Helen Elliott's home on Thursday
afternoon at 2 p.m., and a meeting of
the 150th Anniversary Committee is
on Tuesday, March 23.

Jean Fraser gave a report of the
historical society.
Happy Birthday was sung to Helen
Topham who is having a birthday on
Feb. 19. Lunch was served by
Yvonne Knight and Jean Fraser.
