Pay taxes
on installment
plan
"If you're required to pay your
taxes in installments, don't put off
sending in your return," says
chartered accountant Debra
Farquharson of Newmarket.
"If you fail to pay the required
amounts on time, you could be
charged substantial interest and
penalties by Canada Customs and
Revenue Agency (CCRA).
"Not all taxpayers are required to
pay tax installments. In 2003 they
qualify if total taxes (including Old
Age Security repayment, but not
-including Canada Pension Plan
contributions) exceed income tax
withheld from income and
provincial tax credits by more than
$2,000," advises Farquharson.
"CCRA determines ' who is
required. to pay installments and
mails those taxpayers installment
reminders. You only have to make
installments if CCRA sent you an
installment reminder. If you don't
receive one, you don't have to make
installments, even if your tax
liability clearly exceeds the $2,000
limit. If you do receive a reminder,
remember that it's based on past
information. If you're certain that
your current year's unpaid liability
when you file your return will not
exceed $2,000 then you are not
required to make installments and
you can ignore the reminder
notices."

opens
The Cancer Recovery Foundation
of Canada has opened. its doors to
help all Canadians prevent and
survive cancer.
Cancer Recovery Foundation's
mission is to educate, empower and
encourage cancer patients and their
family members on all treatment
options.
An affiliate of Cancer Recovery
Foundation of America, Cancer
Recovery Foundation of Canada is a
non-profit corporation registered
with Canada Customs and Revenue
as a charitable organization. The
organization is governed by a board
of directors and managed in Canada
by Virginia Anderson of Dorset.
Cancer Recovery Foundation was
founded by long-term cancer
survivor Greg Anderson in 1985.
who fought a 30-days-to-live lung
cancer diagnosis in 1984.
Anderson serves as CEO of
Cancer Recovery Foundation
International. He is an international
authority on wellness and the author
of eight books, including the
million-copy best seller The Cancer
Conqueror, which has been
translated into 19 different
languages.
"We educate people about an
integral mind-body-spirit approach
to cancer -recovery. It's all in
addition to making certain the very
best medical care is available," said
Anderson.
Cancer Recovery Foundation
provides free cancer survivor kits to
men and women fighting cancer.
Additionally, the organization
provides camp scholarships for
pediatric oncology patients.
"Children fighting cancer
temporarily lose the joys of
childhood. Sending a recovering
child to camp allows them to be kids
again by stomping through mud
puddles, riding a horse, hiking
through the woods, or swimming in
a lake or pool," said Virginia
Anderson.
Cancer Recovery Foundation of
Canada is working with a network of
children's equestrian camps across
Canada. Donations will be used to
help make a difference in the lives of
Canadian children with cancer.
For more information on the camp
scholarship program or to receive a
free Cancer Survivor's Kit, please
