President Tyler Stewart, presented a cheque in the amount of $380 to cover Me annual costs. The program was originally supported by the Blyth Optimist Club, and when the Club disbanded, the members presented the Peacemakers with enough funds to support the program until the end of 2003. Asked for assistance to continue, the Lions generously responded. There are different categories offered. The one chosen by the committee is called Friends. This is where municipalities are registered in the national edition but not evaluated by a jury. They are expected to continue local Communities in Bloom initiatives to maintain their bloom rating. As one of the fundraisers this year they are offering Vesey's Spring Bulb Campaign. Something new this year is that they have a Flower for 2004, namely the Calla Lily. The spring offer includes this flower. It comes in mixed colours. FARM SAFETY FACT Did you know? The audience had smiles for Logan Chalmers who did the Teddy Bear dance and for MacKenzie Chalmers who also danced. MacKenzie shared a story she'd Written about a dog named George. Jean Nethery and two others from the Blyth Tai Chi Club, Shirley Nicholson and Jean Plaetzer, conducted hand and foot exercises. Irma Mason prepared the plates of cookies the club members had brought. As lunch was served a social time was enjoyed by all.
