Entertainment Leisure By Elyse DeBruyn Citizen staff After eight years together, the local punk-music band Perish has released its second album and is promoting it with an upcoming show in March. The three-man band consists of two Brussels natives Joshua Gropp and Rob McKercher as well as Thomas Ireland of Teeswater. The new album, entitled Music as Therapy, has 10 new tracks including Best Friend 2 and In My Head. Gropp, a jazz guitar student at Humber College, Toronto, writes and sings the songs. McKercher plays the drums for the band while Ireland hits the notes on the bass guitar. Taking first place were Sandra Josling and Bob Cochrane. Coming in second were Jo-Ann McDonald, John Harrison and Bill Kamerman. The general meeting was cancelled from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening. There were nine comrades in attendance. Discussions were held about upcoming dinners including an invitation by the Brussels Optimists for a social evening at the Branch. Included in the invitation are the Brussels Lions and the fire department. A fish fry dinner will be served by the Branch. A new initiative for the Branch and for the seniors committee is the promotion of knee laps to be made for Parkwood Hospital and Huronlea. Anyone with extra balls of wool can donate them to the branch to be used by some talented folks. Maybe you can knit or crochet and wish to use up these odds and ends and donate them to the Branch for distribution. The Friday night supper of chicken and rice was enjoyed by a great crowd. The singles dance had a small group enjoy Country Motion. Congratulations to comrade Mike Dauphin and wife Michelle on the birth of Aleya Morgan. New daughter and Mom are doing fine and so is Dad. Comrades in hospital include Bill Bremner and Gordon Workman. We hope they are improving. We are going to have a cooking bee to make some Friday night suppers ahead.
