After eight years together, the local
punk-music band Perish has released
its second album and is promoting it
with an upcoming show in March.
The three-man band consists of
two Brussels natives Joshua Gropp
and Rob McKercher as well as
Thomas Ireland of Teeswater.
The new album, entitled Music as
Therapy, has 10 new tracks including
Best Friend 2 and In My Head.
Gropp, a jazz guitar student at
Humber College, Toronto, writes and
sings the songs. McKercher plays the
drums for the band while Ireland hits
the notes on the bass guitar.

There were 16 darters out this
week at the Brussels Legion. Taking
first place were Sandra Josling and
Bob Cochrane. Coming in second
were Jo-Ann McDonald, John
Harrison and Bill Kamerman.
The general meeting was
cancelled from Tuesday evening
until Thursday evening. There were
nine comrades in attendance.
Discussions were held about
upcoming dinners including an
invitation by the Brussels Optimists
for a social evening at the Branch.
Included in the invitation are the
Brussels Lions and the fire
department.
A fish fry dinner will be served by
the Branch.
A new initiative for the Branch and
for the seniors committee is the
promotion of knee laps to be made
for Parkwood Hospital and
Huronlea. Anyone with extra balls
of wool can donate them to the
branch to be used by some talented
folks. Maybe you can knit or crochet
and wish to use up these odds and
ends and donate them to the Branch
for distribution.
