Blyth Dynamite PeeWee
bro'omball faced off against Seaforth
Jan. 25 in Blyth.
The game started off evenly
matched with both teams getting few
scoring opportunities.
Late in the first period, Correena
Otten got a neat pass away off the
boards up to Brent Drost who got a
breakaway into the Seaforth end to
score.
Seaforth responded with a
breakaway of their own, only to
score after the buzzer.
With Blyth holding onto a one-
goal lead, Seaforth put the pressure
on goalie Courtney Bos. With the
help of the defence, Chantel
Hubbard, Larissa Jenkins and Otten,
Bos was able to keep Seaforth off
the scoreboard.
Blyth won 1-0.
On Sunday, Feb. 1 the Dynamites
travelled to Mildmay, always a
tough opponent.
Sydney Otten started in net for the
first time this season. She stood up
to the Mildmay offence in the first
half but the action picked up in the
second. Mildmay got one after a
brief scramble in front of the Blyth
net.
Later, Mildmay caught the Blyth
defence flatfooted on the red line
and came in on a breakaway to
score.
Blyth came back and kept the ball
in the Mildmay end until Derek
Logtenberg was able to come up
with the ball behind the Mildmay net
and do a quick wraparound for a
goal. Late in the game, Blyth
pounded away at the Mildmay net
but were unable to score.
Blyth lost 2-1.
Next weekend they travel to
Lefroy for the junior provincial
championships.
