42 attend Belgrave WI meeting
The January meeting of the
Belgrave Women's Institute began
with the singing of 0 Canada.
Grace was followed by 42 members
and guests enjoying a potluck meal.
The program convenor, Wilma
Higgins introduced Anne Haley
from the Huron County Health Unit,
representing Take Heart Huron. She
read a story about Grabwell
Grummet, which emphasized the
risk factors for a heart attack.
During her talk she touched on the
DOROTHY HELEN
GRAINGER
Mrs. Dorothy Grainger of
Listowel passed away on Tuesday,
Jan. 20, 2004. She was in her 91st
year.
The former Dorothy Franklin was
the beloved wife of the late Mervyn
Grainger. She was the dear mother
of Bernice and Robert Uebele of
Kitchener, Barry and Patricia
Grainger of Port Dover, and David
and Eileen Grainger of London. She
was the loving grandmother of
Kathleen Grainger of Orangeville,
Laura Grainger of Summerland,
B.C., and Erin Grainger of Montreal,
QC. She Was the sister of Allan and
Winnifred Franklin of Mt. Morris,
MI, Ruth and Ralph Noecker of
Moorefield, and Elsie Russell of
Brantford.
Mrs. Grainger was predeceased by
her sisters Jean, Edna, and Annie,
and a brother in infancy.
Visitation was held at the Robert
Trench Funeral Home, Listowel on
Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of
ways to lessen the change of getting
a heart attack including physical
activity, healthy eating, stress
management and giving up
smoking.
She had many informative
booklets available for people to take
home.
The business meeting Was
conducted by Audrey Fenton. It
began with the minutes of the
previous meeting and the roll call.
The financial statement was read by
the funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev.
George Russell officiated.
Interment will be in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
Memorial donations to Trinity
United Church, Listowel would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
JAMES PETER OLDRIDGE
It was with great sadness that the
family announced the passing of
James "Peter" Oldridge in Wingham
and District Hospital Jan. 26, 2004.
He was in his 79th year.
Pete was born in Ingersoll Aug.
29, 1925 the son of Charles and
Emily (Richens) Oldridge.
He was the loving husband of
Norma (Hams) for 56 years and
beloved father of Brian and his wife
Linda. He was also cherished by five
grandchildren — Alyssa, Rachel,
Brianne, Rebecca and Matthew. Pete
will be sadly missed by his two
sisters Mary and her husband Lloyd
Falls and Edith Krueger, all of
Woodstock and one sister-in-law
Doreen Marks.
The furnace has been inspected
and a new oil tank installed. The WI
will be looking to hire a local person
to take bookings for the hall and do
caretaking.
A donation was given to Nancy
Jardin for the Walk for Memories for
the Alzheimer's Society.
Isabel Campbell prepared the
prize list for the WI classes at the
school fair. WI will cover the costs
of these Rizes.
Minnie Oldridge of Chilliwack, B.C.
Many nieces, nephews and cousins
are also left to mourn his
passing.
Pete is absent from his body, but
present with His Lord.
He was predeceased by his father
Charles in 1957, his mother Emily
(Richens) in 1977, one sister Alice
(Hutchison) in 1969 and one brother
Fred in 1998.
Relatives and friends will be
received at the McBeath-Dynes
Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street
South, Ingersoll on Friday, Jan. 30, 2
- 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral
service will be held on Saturday,
Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Don
Vair officiating.
Interment will be in Ebenezer
Cemetery.
Bill and Muriel Coultes visited on
Sunday with Janice and Mark
Matheson of Molesworth to watch
the Maple Leaf skills competi-
tion.
Grandson, Tyler Stevenson, son of
Andrea and Scott Stevenson had
previously competed in the All-
Ontario Bell skills competition for
Atom-aged players, nine-10 year
olds.
Out of nearly. 3,000 skaters Tyler
placed in the top 100 and was invited
to the Air Canada Centre on Sun-
day.
Tyler placed 10th overall and was
invited to the semi-finals. Of the top
15 they picked two goalies, two girls
and four boys to compete on TV in
the Toronto Maple Leafs skills
competition.
The family had an exciting day in
Toronto.
Tyler plays defence•for the Huron-
Perth Lakers Triple A Atom team and
attends school at East Wawanosh
Public School.

There were eight tables of shoot in
play on Friday, Jan. 23 at the
Belgrave Community Centre.
Winners were: high lady, Jane
Grasby; most shoots, Nell Johnston;
low lady, Jean Deyell; high man,
Ken Spears; second high man,
Stuart Chamney; most shoots,
Dennis Leddy; low man, Lorne
Campbell.
The next shoot is Friday, Feb. 13
with dessert at 1 p.m.
