Conservative Party elects new board
On Monday, Jan. 19 members of
the new Huron Bruce Conservative
Party met to elect the new board of
directors, executive, and candidate
nomination committee. Good
attendance was reported, despite the
inclement weather.
Members selected a new 30-
member board of directors,
president is Brian Treble, Wingham,

The financial statements
presented to the Huron County
Beef Producers at the annual
meeting in the Brussels Legion,
Jan. 21 showed a loss this year of
$1,051.77.
A balance remains pf $2,157.61.
Secretary-treasurer Jacquie
Bishop, in presenting the
Sympathy is extended to Bernice
(Johnston) Shortt and family on the
death of her husband Gordon Shortt
on Monday, Jan. 19.
Family members visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Jardin on Saturday,
Jan. 17 to celebrate Tom's 90th
birthday. Those present were
Donald and Dorothy Jardin of New
Hamburg, Paul and Crystal Jardin of
Kitchener, Harold and Nancy Jardin
of Belgrave and Bonnie and Mark
Garner of Switzerland. Son Lyman
of Vancouver Island was unable to
be there for this occasion but visited
via telephone. Happy birthday, Tom.
and vice-president is Gary Haak,
Clinton.
Other members of the executive
are Sherry Anstett, Mary Donnelly,
Ken McCowan, Doug Fines and
Steven Sparling.
"The new board is a strong,
experienced and dynamic team of
individuals who will ensure that the
Huron-Bruce Conservatives are

were Rev. Eugen Bannerman, Wyatt
and Brandilyn Bearss.
The children's hymn was Come
Children Join the Singing. Rev.
Bannerman explained the New
United • Church Creed to the
children.
Rev. Bannerman read the
lectionary reading from Nehemiah
which was followed by the
responsive Psalm 19.
The hymn God Who Gives To
Life Its Goodness was sung.
Rev. Bannerman's message to the
adults was The New United Church
Creed. We are Not Alone, We Live
in God's World.
The new creed was repeated in
unison.

According to Haak, board
members agreed that the association
will have to work hard over the next
beef promotion in the county.
Auditor Ron Stevenson creditted
Bishop with doing an "excellent
job. Everything was perfect."
Stevenson was selected as
auditor for the 2004 year.
Glen Walker gave his report on
vaccination sales.
He commended everyone who
participated and noted a total
increase in sales for the year of
5,367 head from 3,430 head in
2002.
This is up approximately 56 per
cent with the greater jump being at
the spring sale.
"Vaccination," he said, "has to
be done within the framework or
cattle will be placed at the back of
the sale."
Sale dates for spring are March
29, April 12-26, while fall's are
Oct. 18, Nov. 8 and Nov. 22.

Weekend of work
Members of the Blyth Cubs and their leaders had a winter
camp at Londesborough Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
