Cranbrook couple has a busy start
Chris and Shelly Smith had a busy
start to this year. Their daughter,
Delayna started the ball rolling on
Jan. 3 when she was helping her dad
in the barn. She had a fall resulting
in a trip to Sick Kid's in London. She
is well now, after being treated like a
queen there.
Chris and Shelly's son Bennett
Robert was born on Jan. 4, a brother
for Lexi, Delayna and Hudson.
Bennett had an extra long stay at
Stratford hospital as he ran into
respiratory problems.
Shelly says that thanks to our great
health system he is doing great now.
Bennett came close to sharing his
birthday with Grandma, Teuni
Smith, but instead decided to share
with Great-Grandma Smith, so she
will be smiling down from heaven.
Kathy Bridge presented Yvonne
Knight with a 40-year pin
representing her years as a Women's
institute member. She was a member
of Cranbrook WI in Brussels.
Congratulations to Lexi Smith,
daughter of Chris and Shelly and
granddaughter of Fred and Teuni for
having the highest points in the
Junior Section of the Brussels Fall
Fair. David and Joan Perrie awarded
her a book at the Brussels
Agricultural Society's annual
meeting on Jan. 25 at the BMG
Community Centre.
A number from the area attended
the potluck supper and meeting.
Other school winners were Christine
Bone and Lauren Spink from
Brussels.
Congratulations to Leona
McDonald and Fran Bremner who
were presented with the service
award at the same meeting.
Birthday wishes go to Lexi Smith
on Jan. 25 and Curtis Terpstra on
Jan. 26.
The results from the Cranbrook
dart club for last week are as
follows: high lady, Karen Bowles,
118; high man, Keith Williamson,
98.
Rev. Theresa McDonald Lee and
her husband Johnathon reported they
enjoyed their week's holidays in
Winnipeg. They had their puppets at
the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship
on Friday night. Diane Simpson
from Monkton Presbyterian Church
was also in Cranbrook taking part in
the church service while Theresa
was on holidays.
Once again the sound of
snowmobiles can be heard in
Cranbrook. We remind the winter
enthusiasts to keep to the trails for
their own safety. Enjoy the sport.
