Hello from the folks of Ottawa.
All appears well there and the
skating on the canal has begun. We
took a little scoot that way last week
and as part of the things to do in
winter in that area, you skate in the
great outdoors.

Stormy weather again caused
cancellation of Cadets at the
Brussels Legion.
Thursday night darts had 11
players. The top player was John
Harrison in first place who as well
had high shot for the men with 133.
Coming in second were Paul Gross
and Julie Harrison while third place
went to Lisa Glanville and Harry
Smith. The high ladies' shot was by
Sandra Josling with 138.
Saturday was a busy day at the
Branch. There were 13 tables in play
at euchre. First prize went to Bev
Hayden and Mary McIntosh with 74
points. Second-place teams were
tied with 71 points each. They were

around the city, better describes the
wandering, now frozen water of the
Rideau Canal, the long rink is open
to the public as soon as the ice is
thick and flooded. Skaters of all
sizes and ages soon appear. It is a
very popular thing to do and so
much fun.
Skating part of the seven available
kilometres on the world's longest
rink is a great way to pass time.

The cards were not kind to Lloyd

Hilda Holmes.
Euchre is every two weeks.
The Branch hosted a fish fry on
Saturday to satisfy over 100 fish
lovers. Thanks to the men for
braving the cold and Lisa who did
the running.
The dinners are a great fundraiser
for the Branch and we have quite a
few bookings for the summer. We
are looking for a few more comrades
to help and take a turn once in
awhile. Please call the Branch or
but well worth it for the thrill.
Just to top the winter interlude
nephew Patrick, Jim's oldest son, let
Uncle Ralph take him to a Senator's
game. Free tickets in the third row
made the game a really good one.
There is something so nice about
listening to the weather report and
finding that we are not getting all the
white stuff but that it is being shared
around.
Well grab your book, curl up and
enjoy the winter.
Bye now, Betty GW
