THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JANUARY 8, 2004. Christmas is family time and we are glad that the weather co-operated to allow the many family gatherings to take place. Kathleen Williamson was the guest of Tom and Joyce Williamson. Sarah, Katie and Nicole on Christmas Eve and morning. They travelled to Mitchell to Barry and Shirley Skinner's to celebrate along with Jim, Val, Justin, Jordan and Kaitlin Regele and Becky and friend Joe. Joining Mert and Doreen Hackwell from afar were son Blaine from Milwaukee and son Craig from St. Catharines with wife Sherry and family Chase, Mackenzie. Spencer and Aiden. Helen Williamson hosted family members Neil and Doris and their sons Brian and Gary and their families; Wayne and Linda and girls Hope and Brandi; daughter, Lois and Nicole on Christmas Day. Harold and Pearl McCallum enjoyed having their family members home on Christmas Day, Ron and Betty and family and Carol and Tahitha and boys. Paul was down with the cold/flu but Dianne and family arrived as did Joyce and Wayne Hartman and Marion and family. Murray and Olene Dennis welcomed family on Christmas day. Son Steve, and daughters Laura and family and Peggy and family joined them. Daughter Elaine and family arrived to celebrate on Boxing Day. Lavern and Marion Godkin welcomed family for a Boxing Day celebration. Dianne, Ron and family, Bruce and family, Gary and family and Donna and family and Sharon were home. Nancy in Florida was unable to attend. The newest addition to the Godkin clan is Gary and Gerri Lee's new daughter Kristi, born Nov. 17. A little sister for Kara and Kelli. Congratulations to them all. Those attending the Christmas Eve service at Duff's United Church were welcomed by Betty McCallum. The Dtiff's band welcomed the crowd playing Christmas carols. Joining the regular members of the band Brian Black, Graeme Craig, Marie McGavin, Phyllis Mitchell, Pearl McCallum, Glenda Morrison and Maridn Godkin was Phil Graber on drums, The Christmas story was delivered by scripture readers Monique Baan, Jo-Ann McDonald and Cindy Poland. The congregation also enjoyed the Christmas story through song by special musical guests. Piano duets were played by Ryan Baan and Laura Black. Abby McGavin stepdanced to Born in Bethlehem. Vocal gifts of the Black family, which included Brian Black and. Jennifer Black as well Jennifer's fiancé Chad Spaulding and his parents Harold and Jasmin Spaulding, were enjoyed. They presented solos, ducts and quartet numbers of the Christmas story. The Duff's adult choir sang He's- the Love in Your Heart at Christ- mas. The Advent wreath lighting of the Christ candle was by Marilyn and Andrew McDonald. Rev. Joan TuChlinsky wished Neil and Marie McGavin celebrated their family Christmas on Boxing Day. The houseful included Brian, Shelley, Brandon. Abby and Tyson McGavin; Pat, Cathy. Brent. Alex and Shayna Melady; Jeff. Shannon, Jacob, Mackenzie and Teagan McGavin and Bryan, Heather, Hayden. Jared and Jessica Kelso. Barry and Karen Hoegy celebrated their Christmas with their family on Boxing Day. Joining them were Darryl and Ruthann, Derek, Justin, Ashley, Amanda from Lucan and Ben Hoegy and Sherry Hoegy from Winterville, North' Carolina. They also travelled to Goderich on Saturday to celebrate the Brindley Christmas. Former Walton residents Mike and Dorothy Gulutzen, from near Owen Sound, and. various members of their family attended. Area members of the Hemingway family gathered at Holmesville to celebrate together. Lavern and Marion Godkin, Jim and Ruth A xtmann and family and other family members had an enjoyable dr'y together. Ian Wilbee's family gathered at the home of Keith and Gloria. Kevin and Mark Wilbee. Brian Wilbee and Carol and Murray Henderson and sons -Steven and Scott enjoyed the day on Sunday after Christmas. The Floods gathered at Calvin and Dianne's on Sunday. Clarence Flood. son Morris as well as Janet and Gary Caesar and family enjoyed a great meal and day together. The many Glanvilles gathered at the Kinburn Hall on Boxing Day with over 60 attending. Various family members of Ken and. Betty, Lorne and Bonnie, Roy and Carlene, Lloyd and Mabel, Art and Shelley. Les and Cathy, Marjorie - and Richard, Marlene and Don and Ilene and Tom enjoyed the mystery gift exchange With lots of stealing, picking and trading taking place. The Houston family celebrated the Watts side of Christmas with days of celebrating. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent at Murray and Stephanie Kellington's with other family members, Murray and Maxine Houston and family, Max and Barb Watts of Wasaga Beach, Trina and family of Kippen, Darren of Wasaga and Ruth and family of blessings to all this Christmas season and encouraged all to Go Tell It On The Moulmein in the evening's final song and benediction. Members and friends were greeted on the first Sunday of Christmas by Fred and Heidi McClure. Anyone who wishes to receive or cancel the United Church Observer are to- contact Marie McGavin as soon as possible. The Walton youth choir presented The Little Red Wagon Musical for the message. Under the direction of Brian Black, the musical was .the story of a young Mexican boy in a small village in Mexico. The small figure of Jesus was missing from the church's nativity scene and the pastor was upset. .As the musical story progressed it was found that the little boy had • prayed for a little red wagon and had promised God a ride if he received one. He believed he was fulfilling his promise to God by giving the Baby Jesus a ride in his new wagon; it was his birthday you know. The youth choir includes Laura and Bethany Black, Cassandra Banks, Melissa and Joelle Glanville, Marina Glanville and Abby McGavin. Special thanks was extended to Patty Banks and Jim Cook for their help in the set Windsor. The families spent time at the BM&G arena having a skating party on Boxing Day. Many members of George and Marie Blake's family gathered together after mass on Christmas Eve to spend a time celebrating family and Christmas together. - Howard and Audrey Hackwell celebrated Christmas with family from Dec. 24 until Dec. 28. Daughter Pam from Toronto was home for a couple of days and daughter Patricia with husband Eddie and little Sebastian from Whitby were home from Boxing Day until Sunday. Son Dean and Kelly were home for both Christmas and Boxing Day. A complete family dinner was held Boxing Day. Sebastian enjoyed riding with Howard and visiting Elliott Hackwell's farm. Mary Humphries was .off to daughter Kim's at Bayfield on Christmas day. The Humphries family gathered at the home of Jim Humphries in London on Boxing day for a complete family celebration. Ross and Marg Bennett and family members and Marie Coutts and members of her family gathered at the home of Greg and Nancy, Evan. and Danielle Ducharme to celebrate the Bennett family Christmas. Peter, LuAnn and Emily from Collingwood and Allan and Karen Carter and family of Seaforth were gathered. A celebration of triple fun was held by the family of Keith and Janet Bachert. Family gathered at the Valhalla Inn prior to Christmas to celebrate Mark's return from Nicaragua, Mark's fiancé Brenda's arrival from Winnipeg and a_surprise bridal shower as well as celebrating Keith and Janet's 40th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed dinner at Anna Mae's in Millbank with 26 in attendance, as well as brother and sisters of both Keith and Janet's and their wedding party attendants. All six of Keith and Janet's children attended including Mike and Shelley, Marvin and Wendy, Mark and Brenda, Sherry and Phillip, Sheila and Dave and Shiriee and Brent and their families. They travelled to St. Helens on Monday, Dec. 22 to an Amish home that catered a wonderful Christmas dinner for them. It was an experience of another way of life for the younger ones. It was a wonderful gathering and time together. Celebrating a wedding was the ['nether family. Grandmother Mary I blether. Brian. Dianne, Sandy, Ken. Sherry and Jell travelled to Burlington to witness the marriage of Jonathon and Jocelyne Tipple. Parents of Jonathon are Roger and Joyce (Huether) Tipple. Also attending were Dave, Angie, Jeff and Kevin Huether. Joan, Gary, Christopher and Kaitlin Ritchie. .The dinner and reception were held at the Atrium Complex of the Burlington Convention Centre. Congratulations to the family. Celebrating another year older and another year wiser was Betty McCall. A birthday celebration, was held at daughter Bev Stevenson's home with Ron, Nicole, Ashley, Brett and Allison Stevenson, Chris and Lisa Stevenson and Michelle Olegnick from Lucan attending. Former neighbours Alex and Barb McDougall picked Betty up on Dec. 30 and took her to a surprise birthday party at Daniel's in • Clinton. They enjoyed seeing the lovely Christmas lights and Betty appreciated the gifts and cards she received. New Year's was celebrated in many ways by the Walton people. A group of friends gathered at the Walton Hall to enjoy the evening, some travelled to Brussels to the BMG survival party or the Brussels Legion to dance. Home parties were reported by some and staying home with family was how some welcomed 2004. Unfortunately cold and flu kept others home but no matter how you welcomed 2004 — best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead. United. The offering was taken by January ushers Brian Wilbee and Neil McGavin. An invitation was extended to an event at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. God Loves a Picnic is on Friday, Jan. 16. Music is by Bryan Moyer Suderman, with puppets by the Knox Pldyers. A picnic is at 5:30 p.m. There is no admission charge but donations will be accepted towards costs. This event is sponsored by Brussels and area churches and everyone is welcome. FROM WALTON Store owner reports found property On Jan. 3 shortly before noon. OPP were called to the Walton County Store located on Brussels Line in Huron East over found property. The owner said that sometime overnight a sign was abandoned in front of the business. MEETING NOTICE MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry Council Meetings scheduled for the month of January, 2004 will be held: Tuesday, January 6 at 7:30 pm Thursday, January 15 at 7:30 pm Tuesday, January 20 at 7:30 pm preparations. The offering was collected by Ron McCallum and John Gillis. The first Sunday of the new year was a celebration of new life and new beginnings. Ron and Betty McCallum greeted. The sacrament of baptism welcomed Justin James Morrison, infant son of Darryl and Glenda Morrison into the Duff's family. The scripture reader was Graeme Craig.
