time residents during the holidays.
Sympathy is extended to Helen
Gowing and family on the loss of a
husband. father and grandfather,

WIN! sweepstakes. The draw was
held Christmas morning at the
Blyth and District Community
family in the loss of a wile, mother

skills sharpened up and plan to
attend the regular euchre party on
Monday night, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.M.
in the Legion Hall.
Blyth Legion Auxiliary is hoting
a card party on Jan: 15 at 1 p.m. in
the Memorial Hall. Proceeds are to
go to the emergency services
training centre.
The Legion and Auxiliary are also
sponsoring a breakfast on Jan. 25
from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Proceeds
also to the centre.
- Doug, Joyce, Heidi and Jamie
hosted the Craig family Christmas
on Dec. 28. Those attending were:
Joye and Murray Kane, Fullarton:
Al, Cindy, Bryon and Ashley Kane.
Mitchell; Paul, Sue, Emily and
Amanda Craig, Waterloo; Kim and
Mark Hornyak, Strathroy; Bodie
and .011ie Craig, Deb, Fred,
Jonathon and Quinton Hakkers,
Don, Marilyn and Dave Craig, all of
Blyth. The. afternoon was spent
riding horses and having fun outside
Centre. The prize was a 2004
Dodge, Ford, Chev of GMC pick-
up — or $35,000. Townsend chose
the cash.

of the community and everyone

Doug and Joyce also hosted a
family gathering on Dec. 26. Those
attending were Helen Stonehouse,
Be'grave; Don, Marilyn and Dave
Craig. Deb. Fred: Jonathon and
Quinton Hakkers of Blyth. The
children all enjoyed riding horses
for the afternoon.
Nancy, Ed and Tricia Daer spent
the Christmas holidays with Terry,
Julie and Josh in Barrie.

Hakkers were guests at the home of
Don, Marilyn and Dave Craig on
sunday, Jan. 4 to celebrate Deb's
birthday. Happy birthday Deb.
Terry, Debbie, Jennifer and
Brendan Pierce spent Christmas at
Allegro By Occidental Hotel and
Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican
Republic.

welcomed everyone to church this

were below expectations. "Last
year was our best yet and this year,
we had our best start. But as the
weeks passed, sales flattened- and
ultimately, less than 900 tickets
were sold" said Steven Sparling,
one of the sweepstakes organizers.
By comparison, over 1,300 were
sold in 2002.

not going to sit and watch a house

gave each of the children an incense
stick which they lit from the candles
at the front of the church.
Rev. Bannerman read the
Lectionary Reading from Isaiah 60:
1-6 which was followed by the
responsive Psalm 147.
Rev. Bannerman's message to the
adults was that it is good to
celebrate 150 years of the church
but that they should celebrate all
year not just an anniversary Sunday.
An anniversary is a time to reaffirm
faith and look forward.
Kelly McIntosh gave a reading
