DECEMBER 1.0 LOOKING BACKWARDS THROUGH THE SENTINEL FILES WITH MARGARET THOMPSON 10 YEARS AGO DECEMBER 1965 George Joynt commenced his 110th year as Lacknow Reeve. There was a close race in an election for council with the successful candidates Omar Brooks, M. L. Sanderson,: Harvey Webster and W. A. (Bud) Hamilton. Lucknow voters approved the establishment of a government store for' the sale of liquor and beer in the village. Three years previously a similar vote was tufted down at the polls. On December 1st, Mr., and Mrs. Ira Campbell of Belgrave, formerly of Lucknow, observed their 68th wedding anniversary,. 30 Years Ago DECEMBER 1945 Kinloss Township „council was returned to office by acclamation for its fourth term without a change in personnel and included Reeve Richard Elliott and Cormciltors Ales MacKenrie„ Dan T. MacKin- non, John Cohvell and P. A. Murray. It marked Mr. Elliott's 12th year as reeve. West Wawanosh Reeve Brown Smyth and Councillors Everett Finnigan, Wallace Miller, David McAllister and Gordon MacPher- son were also returned by acclama- tion for their fourth term of office. Aslhfield Township electors went to the polls for the first time since 1938 and elected Cecil Johnston as reeve and councillors Elmer Gra ham, R. A.
