This. Week In Ripley
BY AB WYLDS
The weather cycle of two weekS
ago repeated this past week end.
On Friday and Saturday the ground
was covered with snow and by
Sunday morning disagreeable rain
was pelting down and everywhere
the grass was showing green and
bare. Again those air masses
swept into the Great Lakes. Likely
by mid week they' will be forced out
by cold air from the. west,
accompanied by snow.

Saturday morning's sleet made
everything slippery outside. It was
fortunate that the men looking after
the roads had sanded and salted
them on Friday. On Saturday
morning village foreman Donnie
Peterhaugh did the sidewalks in
the main section of Ripley. •
It is beginning to look like
Christmas. In the upstreet section
coloured lights have been up at
George McLean's store. Oraen
Rock's shop and at Florence
MacDonald's shop for the past two
weeks.

Both the' drover Leonard Court-
ney of Amberley and the owner
Donald Johnston received mention
on the radio last Saturday noon in
the Toronto Livestock weekly
report for a top priced steer.

Members of the Ripley and
District Lions Club will be helping
Santa Claus in his visit to Ripley
this Saturday. There will be free
skating at the new Ripley Huron.
Complex from 1.30 to 3.30 p.m.

the second dinner was on Friday.
evening.

For the record -. a thunder and
lightning storm passed over the
area late Sunday evening. Heavy
rain fell intermittently through to
Monday morning and as a result
Gore Park is about a third covered
with water ponds.
