Bob Street Bridge Not Connecting Link
Lucknow Village Council were
advised at their December meeting
that the Bob Street bridge in
Lucknow. running off ,Campbell .
Street to the Public School,. does
not qualify for .full replacement by
the Ontario Ministry of Transporta-
tion. and Communications under
the connecting link agreement with
the town. Under this agreement,
negotiated a number of years ago,
the province paid 100% of the hosts
orthe portion of highway thiough
the village: .
• The bridge does, however,
qualify for the normal .80%,
subsidy. The letter advising of this
was received by Reeve George
Joynt from ihe minister, .the
Honourable James Snowe. The
bridge was • washed out during a
heavy rain storm this past summer
and is presently' not usable.
• Council learned that the town
hall . roof was leaking badly and
arrangements were to be made for
repair.
• Several business taxes were
reviewed and agreement was
reached on some rebates to
businesses which had ceased
operation during the past year.
Bruce County Library Board will
pay a S1000 annual rent for space in
Lucknow Town Hall, the Lucknow
Public Library. The previous
annual rent was $750.
George Colwell of Lucknow
submitted an account for cleaning a
ditch at the rear of his property.
COuncil stated the drain was a
private one, not a' municipal drain,
and refused payment. •
Eye Injured In
Hockey Game
Jim SimPson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Simpson of 'the
Kintail-Lochalsh area, received an
injured eye from a stick in a hockey
game in the Lucknow Town and
Country League Thursday Of last
week.
Jim had a cut above the eye lid
which was stitched before he was
sent on to St. Joseph's Hospital in
London that night.
Extent of the injury was still not
known as of writing time Monday.
Jim is a member of the Kintail
hockey team.
Leonard Clark
Named To Couned
Leonard Clark of the 2nd of
Kinloss Township has been ap-
pointed as a councillor in Kinloss
Township.
Walter Breckles of Kinlough was,
earlier appointed to fill a second
Vacancy on. council.
The two vacancies were created
by the resignations of Barry
Johnston and Grant Eckenswiller.
Other council members are Don
Bell and Duncan Campbell with •

in order that all subscribers- 'will

Lois has just completed two
years in Jakarta. Indonesia and will
leave January 2nd for a new two
year posting at Ankara, Turkey.
She joined the •government service
• in February of 196.5 and has also
were assisted by some Girl Guides.
The gifts and treats were paid for,
•by the Lucknow Business Associa-
tion who also • sponsored free
skating at the . arena. •
The Kinsmen were disappointed
that more effort was not put forth
by the community to enter floats in
the parade-

her advanced honours award at the
4-H Club Achievement Day featur-
ing "Let's Bake Bread" at
BrOokside Public school on Satur-
day.

Advanced Honours are for com-
pletion of 18 4-H 'clubs.

The theft was reported to Ontario
Provincial Police at Kincardine on

On Tuesday, December'; neigh-
bouts and friends ofCliff and Rena
Menary gathered at their home in
Lucknow for a surprise party.
The evening was spent playing
cards. Don Alton addressed Cliff
and Rena and Jim Nelson present-

ed them with a mirror and a double
deck of cards. The ladies served
lunch to end a pleasant evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Menary moved to
Lucknow November 1st from Ash-
field. They purchased the home. of
Mrs. Eileen Ashton on Havelock

'Canadian Bible Society has com-
pleted its annual canvass for 1975.
&total of 5657.52 was collected in
Lucknow and -surrounding areas.
This is up 560.00 from last year
