BLYTH PHONE 523-4342 Ruth Thompson Spoke On Africa DUNGANNON NEWS On Thursday, \December. 4,.1975, at 7 p.m. Dungannon Women's Institute members, each with a guest, held their arinual Christmas Party in the church S.S. rooms. It was a smorgasbord pot luck meal with turkey and all the trimmings. The president, Mrs. Graham McNee, welcomed all present and opened with the singing of the W.I. Grace accompanied by Mrs. Gord- on Finnigan at the piano, followed by a toast to the Queen.. Three tables were beautifully decorated and serviette hOlders and place cards had been made to add to the colour.. Following the bountiful meal Mrs. Harry Girvin and Mrs. Elmer Black distributed the ex- change of gifts. PRESENT LIFE MEMBERSHIP, Miss Beth McConnell recited "Christmas at the Purple Bean" and "What the Little Girl Said". Mrs.' McNee then asked bArr7g Black' to assist her in makink 'the presentation of a life membership certificate and pin to Miis Beth McConnell. In her address Mrs. Black told of Beth's willingness to give readings or prepare topics through many yearS - back to Jr. Institute days. Although taken completely by surprise 'Beth ex- pressed her appreciation and her thapks. Carol singing was then enjoyed. — ' Miss Ruth Thompson from Lucknow was introduced as guest speaker by Mrs. .Cecil Blake. Miss Thompson showed, slides of her trip to Africa, describing Nairobi in Kenya - the flowers, trees; buildings, parks. etc; also Tangan- yika and described the, field trips to see the many wild animals. Her talk was interesting, concise and humorous. Mrs. E. Black, 1st vice president.- thanked the gueSt speaker and presented her with 'a W.I. plate. Mrs. Robert Irvin 'ran the projectOr. - Mrs. Hugh McWhinney expres- sed thanks to the executive who had made the Christmas Party a success and Mrs. McNee closed-the meeting by wishing all a Merry Christmas. HURONVIEW BIRTHDAY PARTY On November 19, Dungannon Women's Institute provided a program for the November birth- * day party at Huronview Mrs. Elmer 'Black, president introduced Irvin as chairlady. Th consisted of bagpipe se Mrs. Harold Elliott, r Miss Beth McConnell Lorne Ivers, followed by carols led by a cho' members.
