Family Christmas Tea Marked At
Pinecrest Manor On Sunday, Success
Points To.Becoming Annual Event
MRS.. SAM ALTON
Mrs. Sam Alton of Lucknow, the
former Lottie Mae Henry, passed
away at Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home, Lucknow, on Thursday,
December 4th at age 73.
She was a daughter of Robert
Henry and Margaret Ferguson and
was born in Ashfield Township on .
March 13, 1902. On October 10,
1925 she married Sam- Alton.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton formerly
farmed in Ashfield Township,
retiring to Lucknow twenty-three
years ago.
Mrs. Alton, is survived by her
husband, a resident at Pinecrest
Manor; one son Jack of R. R. 7
Lucknow; four grandchildren, Shel-
ly, Greg, Gary and Jeff; and one
brother Tom - Henry of Victoria,
British Columbia.
She 'was predeceased by three
brothers, Irvine Henry, James
Henry; George Henry..,
The funeral service was held on
Saturday, December 6 at MacKen-
zie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow.
Rev. Doug Kaufman of Lucknow
United Church, of which the
deceased was a member, was
minister.
Pallbearers were Douglas Alton,
Ross Henry, Orland Richards,
Frank Ritchie, Jack Irwin, Bill
Temporary entombment was at
South Kinloss Mausoleum with
final resting place Greenhill Cem-
etery,

The annual congregational din-
ner was followed by. the' Sunday
School concert in South Kinloss
Presbyterian -Church on Sunday
afternoon. Rev. Glenn Noble was
chairman for a splendid program.
The pupils from the Senior classes'
to Beginners presented plays,
skits, recitations etc. The whole
Sunday School formed choir and
sang beautiful Christmai songs,
directed and trained by Mrs. Don
Bell with Mrs. John Forster as
pianist. During the program,
Norma Maclntyre, on behalf of the
Young. People's Society, made the
presentation of a record player to
Donald C. Machityre, superinten-
dent of the Sunday School.
\--- Anne Graham of Toronto spent a
few days last week with her
parents, Mr.. and Mrs, Allan
Graham and Martha.
Mr. and Mrs. Sandy' Nicholson
of Toronto were visitors on the
week end with Mr. and Mrs.
Donald C.. MacIntyre and family.
There were two 4-H Homemak-
ing Clubs from. Kairshea W.I.
taking part in the Achievement Day
in Ripley on Saturday. Leaders for
this course, A Touch of Stitehery,
were Mrs. aarence Ritchie and
Sandra Keith and Mrs. Bill
Haldenby and daughter, Cheryl.

Delightful in every detail was the
Family Christmas Tea held at
Pinecrest Manor Nursing. Home
this past Sunday afternoon. The
honoured guests for the event were
the familiei of the residents
residing at . the Home.
The Christmas theme was taste-
fully used throughout the tea room..
Tea was served from 'a beautiful
linen covered table using silver
appointments and Christmas ar-
rangements. Presiding over the
urns during the afternoon were
Mrs.' A. E. McKim -and Miss Ada
Webster, broth of Lucknow.
The tea room was alive with

Sympathy is extended to Mr. and•
Mrs. Tom Helm, family and
relatives in the passing of his
father, Robert Helm of Lucknow at
the week end.
Mrs. Charles Wilkins left for
Edmonton, Alberta by plane on
Sunday to attend the annual
convention of the National Farmers
Union from December 7th - 13th.
Mr, and Mrs. John. Hunter and
family visited Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Caesar of WhitechurCh, Saturday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs- Russel Swan and
family supplied the music at the
Lurgan Christmas concert, Satur-
day evening.

Helm and' tea was served in their
towns. , •
Guests were present from Toron-
to, Exeter, Goderich, Kincardine,
London and all the surrounding
area. It was felt by all concerned
that the affair should become an
annual one as each .family interr--
Mingled .with the other, renewing
old aCivaintances and friendships.
