Strikes and high prices continue
and so does the weather, but how it
changes. Here it is the last day of
November - windy and warm
outside. After Saturday night's
rain the snow is all gone but likely
by the time of reading this it will be
back. They say that this week end
mild spell is due to huge masses of
air moving up from the Gulf of
Mexico along the Mississippi
Valley to the Great Lakes region
which includes Western Ontario.
Listening to the sound of those high
speed south winds outside one
would agree to this explanation.
This has happened before. Back on
Sunday, November 9, 1913 in the
afternoon similar• warm humid
masses from the Gulf collided with
masses of cold air from Western
Canada and United States right
over Lake Huron. Last night there
was a thunder and lightning storm
before midnight - a sign of colder
weather. And perhaps it was, the
last such storm here till next
spring.
Almost-, each evening last week
there was a freight train passing
through Ripley on its way to
- Kincardine with cattle cars bring-
ing feeder calves from , Western
Canada.
