The Brownies started their
meeting on Tuesday, • November
18th with a game "Human
Ladders".
Fairy Queen, Tracey McDonagh,
placed the. Toadstool for Brownie
Ring. The' Sixers collected Brownie.
Gold and Brown Owl did inspection
and asked everyone to come with
neat and tidy hair and uniforms for
the next meeting as it is enrolment
for the Tweenies. The Pack then
repeated the Brownie Prayer..
„ At Pow Wow the Brownies were
asked to turn in all their calendar
money next week, The require-
ments for the Pet Keeper and
Beadworker badges were gone over
as Rosalea Cameron and Tracey
McDonagh are each working on
one of the badges. Tracey then
showed a picture she . had made
from beads.
During work period a practise for
the enrolment was held. Brown
Owl had the Golden Bar and-
Golden Ladder Brownies play a
game folloWed by a discussion on
the flying up ceremony 'to Guides,
as Anne Hamilton will be leaving
the Pack next week to fly up to
Guides. Tawny Owl had the
Tweenies for the Brownie Story.
Tests passed were Rosemary
Gilmore cleaning a pair of shoes
and. Jackie Rathwell braiding.
The meeting closed with the
Squeeze and Taps.
ST. HELENS
Eleven tables enjoyed the Shoot
Party on Thursday evening at the
St. Helens Hall. High prizes went
to John Sproal 'and Mrs. Stuart
Chamney with second high going to
Ross Errington and Vicki Park.
Holders of the lucky cards were
Mrs. Vera Schmidt and Ron Olson
with Mary Hehn winning the
travelling shoot.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnstone of
Bluevale and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin
McCabe of Windsor were recent
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Frank,
McQuillin.
Dale Gammie who has been
working in the Yukon is visiting
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs..
Ross Gammie.
Charles Rutherford Jefferson of
R. R. 1 Belgrave passed away at
Wingham District Hospital on
Sunday, November 16th, following
a lengthy illness.' He was 78..
Mr. Jefferson, a retired farmer,
was a son of John Jefferson and
Christena Cameron, He was, born
in East .Wawatiosh Township on
March 6, 1897. On June 20, 1929 at
the United Church Manse, Auburn,
he married Iona May McClinchey.
Mr. Jefferson is survived by his
wife, one daughter Mrs. Frank
(Elaine) Campbell of London, two
sons Wesley of Donnybrook and
Donald of Clinton and ten grand-
children; also four brothers and
four sisters; Gordon of Owen Sound,
Joseph of Thunder Bay, Sam of
Goderich, Hilliard of . Donnybrook;
Misses Gladys and Irene Jefferson,
both of Goderich, Mrs. Jim
(Margaret) .Leddy of Donnybrook,
MIS. George (Olive) Reeves of
'Stratford.
He was • predeceased by three
brothers George, Cameron. and
John.
Mr. Jefferson was a member of
Donnybrook United Church.
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Wednesday, Novemb-
er 19th. Rev. A. Fry was minister.'
rallbearers were four nephews,
. Elementary Schools, elaborated on
the topic "Safety is no Accident".
'About 66 people attended.
Cheryl Pegelo, .R. R. 1 Chesley,
took top honours and was awarded
a watch , for 'her efforts. Ann
Morris, R. R. 1 Tiverton, placed
second and was presented with
$15, while Diana Leudke, R. R. 2
Elmwood placed third and received
$10. for her work.
Other competitors were Judy
Ward, Molly McBride and Betty
Stanley from Lucknow area; Nancy •
Barfoot and Jill , Scotland from
Elmwood; Anne Craig and Karen
MacKay from Bervie-ArmOw; Dav-
id Heynes from Allenford and.
Susan Walker from Hepworth.
