the Holstein or Black and White
Show at the Fair on Tuesday and
Wednesday. While .there Jim was
upstairs in the East Annex looking
at the exhibits in the field crops,
potato-es and rutabagas.

a bit short on the score sheet, it was
a real good game to watch. The,
final score was 10 to 7 in favour of
Hoivick.
This Friday evening at eight-
thirty Ripley plays the Brussels
Intermediates in the Ripley Huron
Complex. On Saturday Ripley goes
to Plattsville for a game with the
Intermediates there.

Mr- and Mrs. Ronnie Irwin and
fantily ....recently moved into their
new home on William Street in the
tag end of Ripley. This marks the evil Of 'the Irwin families in the
Virden section of the fOurth
concession of Huron Township.
It .was a busy Friday night this
, past week end in Ripley. First
there was the intermediate hockey
game -.between the Howick and
Ripley teams in the new Ripley
Huron Complex, then the school
danceheld in. the high school
auditorium:
The big pond of water in the
north end of the Memorial Com-
munity Park and east of the
Complex was drained a week ago. '
This was brought about by the
installation of the new drain.
Working on the new drain were
John Inglis, Ross Willitts, Don
Dore and Tom Inglis.

Cliff Emmerton, manager of the
Ripley Huron Complex, sends
along the following account of the
work bee at the parking lot, also a
report on last Friday's game.
On Saturday a work bee with
equipment was organized by Ken
MacDonald and John D. MacKay
to finish the parking lot front of
the new Ripley Huron Complex.
Wilfred. Shantz, with his bulldozer,
followed by several trucks, arrived
on Saturday morning. Among
these trucks were Don Coning and
Ron Nicholson driving Coiling
Bros.. trucks, Bill and Tom Kemp-
ton with their trucks, Bill Swan and
another man driving Kincardine
Construction trucks. Also on the
job was Harry Coiling. All trucks
were hauling gravel fill. Levelling
work was done by, Joe Hodgins and
Ron Irwin using the Huron
Township "grader ,and front end
loader machine. After a sloppy
evening on the grounds at the
Friday night hockey game, every-
one was glad to see the improve-
ment acconiplished by Saturday
evening/. Well done fellows!
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Needham and
family of the tenth concession in
Huron Township attended the
Visiting this past week end with
Mr. and Mrs. John Langley and
laian in Ripley was her brother and
family - Mr. and Mrs. John Beaton •
and baby of Mabou, Nova Scotia.

Visiting with Mr. and ,Mrs.
Clayton Nicholson on the week end
were Mr. and Mrs,. Paul Gillespie
and Michelle of Mississauga and
Paul's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Gillespie of Dublin, Ire-
land. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gillespie
sesided in the apartment at the
Nicholson home when they were in
Ripley prior to going to Missis-
sauga.

Mrs. Lot *Culbert and Mrs.
Stewart Needham of Ripley attend-
ed the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto
last Saturday.

After a . feW years .- absence
it is good to see Interniediate
. hockey back in Ripley and Friday
night was no exception. A good
crowd turned 'Out despite the
inclement weather to watch .the
local boys play Howick. This club
was•formed after the new HolVick
Community Centre was built. On
the team are several players from
the old Kurtzville hockey-team, as
well as players froin the Howick
area. Although Ripley did wind up
Mrs. William J. Mackay has
returned home to Ripley 'after
visiting her daughter Marion and
husband Donald, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Anderson of Waterford.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson visited the
Royal Winter Fair in the coliseum
and among the many exhibits saw
the grain sheaves.,
The first five Guide Laws were
emh'asized at last Thursday's.
meeting of the Lucknow Girl
Guides. These laws were review-
ed, the girls played a game using
them, and in patrols they made
posters portraying the meaning .of.
these laws:
In patrol corners the Guides
'made suggestions for the Christ-
mas meetings. .
Anne Hamilton passed many of
her tests for her tenderfoot.
The Robin patrol chose the game
"London Bridge`', The Swallow
patrol were in charge of campfire
which was conducted 1?y Lori
McKim.
There will be no Guide , meeting
November 27 as the Guides are
attending the Brownie meeting on
November 25 for'an •enrollment and
flying-up ceremony.
