DISTRICT • SCI111(K. GRADE TENS VISIT OTTAWA On ThurSday, November 20th, a group of twenty-one grade ten students loaded a bus and left for Ottawa. They left Ripley at 4.30 and stopped at MacDonald's : in Guelph for supper. They arrived in Ottawa at approximately 12.30 and checked into Lord Elgin Hotel. Friday morning they were up at 7 O'cloCk. They left 'at 9 o'clock for the National . Art Centre. After being there for an hour they visited the Parliament Buildings where they watched the House of Commons in progress fore about forty-five minutes. They had the • pleasure of talking with the M.P. from Sudbtiry. They had a box lunch in the cafeteria of the Federation Building. They then toured the Canadian Mint.. Next they visited the War Museum. After supper back at the hotel they went to a shopping plaza. There they went to see. the show "The Other Side of the Mountain". They returned to the hotel for the night. Saturday morning, after break- fast, they hada three hour bus tour of the city. On this tour they saw embassies, the Prime Minister's House, the Governor General's House and they went into Quebec. They went to MacDonald's in INN Ottawa for dinner. After dinner they toured the Science and Technology Building, the Queen Victoria War Memorial Museum. They had the pleasure of going `swimming .at Ottawa University.- While there they saw a former R.D.S. student Roy Ferguson with whom they. talked. After supper they went bowling at the Kent Bowling Lanes; then saw the show "The Return Of The Pink Panth- er". Then they went back 'to the hotel for the night.. Sunday morning they'had break- fast and at 8.45 the;,loaded the bus for home. A busload of tired students arrived in Ripley at approximately 5 o'clock. The students would like to thank. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess who did a good job of chaperoning them and Pat Duffy who was their tour guide. DANCE Last Friday night a good crowd was, present at the dance. The music was supplied by Ironclad from Port Elgin.. We are sure everyone had a good time. Hope. that all can come to our Christmas dance in December. VOLLEYBALL Our hous'eleague volleyball has started now. The girls teams have the following number of points, Black 5, Green 3, Orange 6, and Red 3. The boys teams have Black 4, Orange 2, Green 6, and Red 5. SOCCER The houseleague soccer is over now with the winning teams being Orange girls and Green boys. SKATING On Friday, November' 13, the grade 8 class and the grade 7 class went ice skating for an hour. It was enjoyed by all. JOAN OSBORNE AND PAM McINTOSH. Card Party There were seven tables at the euchre party held in the Dungan- non Orange Hall. Winners were high gent, Elmer Black; high lady, Mrs. Elmer Black; second high gent, Jack Errington; 2nd high lady, Mrs. Freeman Olson. The next card party will be held on T"lovember ZION Congrattilations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Lane Gardner whose marriage took place in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow on Saturday. We welcome Mrs. Gardner to the community, Mrs.. D. A: Hackett and Mrs. Donald Hackett attended the girls 4-H leaders convention Monday and Tuesday of last week at the Royal Winter. Fair in 'Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Raynard and girls had his brother, Mr, and Mrs. Chris. Raynard and Cathy of Aylmer, Ontario, Saturday . after- noon. Mr. and Mrs. Torn Helm and his= mother, Mrs. Robert Helm of Lucknow visited on Friday of last week in London at the University' Hospital with his father Robert Helm. His condition is improving. The ladies of Trinity United Church, AShfiekl are holding their annual pot luck supper • and exchange of gifts Tuesday evening of this week. Whitechurch On Monday evening, November 17 Whitechurch Women's Institute held their progressive euchre party with 10 tables in play.
