The Sunday School pupils are
practising for their Christmas
program which will follow a
Congregational Dinner on Decem-
ber 7. Mrs. Leonard Clarke was
organist and Mrs. Jack Forster
pianist on Sunday. The choir sang
the anthem, "Will Your Anchor
Hold".
, Mrs. Wm.-J. Irwin and Lloyd and
Mrs. Torn Magoffin visited recently
with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Irwin in
Oshawa.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall was able
to return home from University
Hospital, London on Monday.
Mr. 'and Mrs. Jack Needham left
on Saturday for their winter home
in Vero Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Bill Haldenby and Mrs.
Leonard Clarke enjoyed two days at
the Royal Winter Fair in appiecia-
tion for 4-H leadership.
Allan Maclntyre is a patient in
University Hospital, London. Mrs.
MacIntyre and famil3r spent the
week end with friends in Denfield
and visited with Allan. The
children returned home with Miss
Mary MacIntYre on Sunday.
Mrs. Philip Steer is spending, a
few days at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Eon Wallace in London.
Mrs. Dorothea Birch of Toronto
was a week emiguest with Mr. and
Mrs. Ira Dickie and family.
Dr. Anna Wright, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald C. Maclntyre, Marilynne
and Sandy, and Miss Mary
Maclntyre were guests at the
birthday party for brother and
uncle Sandy Nicholson in Toronto
on Saturday..
BRIDAL SHOWER
A very enjoyable afternoon was
spent in Kairshea Hall on Saturday.
when relatives and friends met to
honour Sandra Kith on her
approaching marriage.
Betty Colwell in a pleasant
introduction welcomed everyone to
Sandra's shower and Mrs. Leonard
Clarke got the crowd, well mixed
with a song game. Mrs. Allan
MacDougall had a good reading
about the husband who snored.
Mrs. Chester Hackett conducted a
brain-teasing number game and
Mrs. Bruce _Colwell had a purse
contest. Mrs. &lice Hamilton gave
an' amusgig reading.
Mrs. Don Bell'i original balloon
contest was lively and then noisy
when the contest losers sat on the
balloons. The bride's book
compiled by. Sandra's aunts and
mother was passed around and
autographed. A pretty apron was
also autographed by the guests and
favourite recipes collected.

' Sandra expressed her sincere
thanks to all for the gifts and
shower.
A good visit and a tasty lunch
concluded another pleasant after-
noon.

WHITECHURCH NEWS-
Whitechurch Women's Institute
held' the November meeting Mon,
day, November 10 in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall.
The hostess was Mrs. Garnet
Farrier, convener of Family and
Consumer Affairs. The meeting
opened with 'the Ode and Collect.

The roll call was answered by 14
members and 3 visitors and 2 of the
4-H leaders by naming and
demonstrating a good exercise or
pay 10e.

Evans, stressing the Nutrition
Canada Survey in 1973 revealed

ents in their diet. Dietitians

5 food groups in Canada Food
Guide. Our health is made or

concluded by telling all to prepare
nutritious meals, but watch the
food budget, due to to-days rising
prices. She advised all to set up a
food budget, with at leagt a' dozen
guide lines.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Murray
Underwood. was introduced by
Mrs. Helen Lewis. ,,Mrs. Under-
wood's subject was Phygitsal Fit-
ness. She emphasized the benefits
of exercise in keeping the4 body
healthy. She had the ladies take
part in exercises which are good for'
a healthy body. She was thanked
and presented with a gift by Mrs.
Garnet Farrier.
All enjoyed singing Let there be
Peace and 0 Canada. 'A contest -
squares made from cereal with a
recipe were brought' by ' the
members. Mrs. Archie Purdon and
Mrs. Walter Elliott, 4-H leaders,
judged the squares. Mrs. Torn
Metcalfe won the pri7e.
Mrs. George Fisher gave the
report of the Grey-Bruce area
convention held at Owen Sound.
There were 375 in attendance. The
1976 convention is to 'be held in
Bruce East District at' Walkerton.
The conference for 1976 is May 4, 5
and 6. The theme of the convention
was 'A Challenge For Tomorrow,
which was the subject of President
Mrs. C. 0. Sutcliffe's address.
Education holds the key to success
in overcoming obstacles of fear,
prejudice, suspicion, greed. Wom-
en's Institutes give this 'type of
training through their programs.
Bruce South District lost the trophy
to Grey West District.
The lunch committee, Mrs.
Garnet Farrier, Mrs. Bill Evans
'and Mrs. Lorne Durnin, served the
squares made for the contest. The
December meeting will be the
banquet on December,10 at noon at
St. Andrew's Church, Wingham.
