On November 28, the Baha'is of
Kincardine and surrounding areas
commemorate the anniversary of
the Ascension of Abdul-Baha, in
1921.
Abbas Effendi, known as A6dul-
Baha (meaning "the Servant of .
Glory"), was the son of Baha'u'l-
lah, Prophet-Founder of the Baha'I
Faith. He .was appointed by
Baha'u'llah as the authorized
interpreter of His Writings, to
whom all Baha'is must turn for
instruction and guidance. In New
York. City, on November 26, 1912,
Abdul-Baha announced to the
Baha'is that He had been appoint-
ed the Centre of the Covenant of
His Father; and this day is now
known as the Day of Convenant.
Abdul-Baha shared Baha'u'llah's
exile and tribulations, remaining a
prisoner until 1908; when, as a
result of the Young Ttirk Revolu-
tion, He was released ftom His.
confinement.
Establishing His residence in
Haifa, He embarked soon after on
His three-year journey to Egypt,
Europe and North America, in the
course of which time. He stayed in
.Montreal at the home of Sutherlimd
and May MaxWell, now a Baha'i
shrine. He expounded before vast
audience,s in numerous locations,
including 'the Churches of ,the
Messiah and St. James in Mont-
real, and predicted the approach of
that catastrophe that was soon to
befall mankind. He returned to His
home on the eve of the first World
War, in the course of which He was
exposed to constant danger, until
the liberation of Palestine under
the command of General Allenby,
who extended the utmost consider-
ation to Him and to the small band
of His fellow exiles in Akka and
Haifa.
Abdul-Baha is buried on Mt.
Carmel in Haifa, Israel.
"In.this world it is not what we
take up, but what we give up, that
makes us rich". Henry Ward
Beecher,

a fitting anthem, "Reach out to
your neighbour" accompanied by

the following verse:
"$3,000. for my convertible
$5,000. for a piece of sod.
$10,000. 1 paid to be in a hoUse
A dollar I gave to God.
A sum to entertain my friends in
endlesS chatter,
And when the world goes mad,
I ask, "Lord, what's the matter?
But there is one big question -
Mid for its answer I now search:
With thing's so bad in this old world
