LANGSIDE NEWS
A social evening and farewell
party was held at Langside hall on
Saturday evening for Mr. and Mrs.
George Young • and family and for
Mrs. Robert . Stewart. Mr. and
'Mrs. • Young have moved to
Wingham and Mrs. • Stewart to
Teeswater. A variety program was'
presented with Nancy de Boer as
chairmin. Songs were "Rattle,
Rattle, Bang, Bang" by Joanne de
Boer, Winnie Visser and Liane
Young; ,"Chim Chimaree" by
Karen Young and Judy. Ward,
dressed as chimney sweeps; "You
Can • Sthile" by Joanne and
ChriStine Bregnian; "It's a Small
World" and "Daddy Sang. Bass"
by a• group of .Langside lassies; a
solo by Mrs. de Boer Sr.; piano
solos by. Karen Young and Joanne
de Boer.
Two, packages were. passed
through the audience, one to the,
ladies and one ,to the men with
directions on each layer. till they.
were presented to Mrs. Stewart
and George young. An act by John
de Boer assisted by Bob Breginan
and Jerry . Vander Klippe caused
much laughter and a short play
"Three Blind Ladies" was much
enjoyed: • •
Poems to Mrs. Stewart and Mr.
and Mrs Young were composed
and read by Philip Steer. Nancy
then. asked Mrs. Stewart and Mr.
and Mrs. George Young and family
to dome to the platforin, Mrs. de
Boer, Mrs. Visser and Mrs. Mann
on behalf of their friends and
neighbours presented Mr. .and
Mrs. Young with an electric clock
and Heather, Bradley and Cheryl
each with a gift. Mrs.' Stewart was
presented 'with an electric table
lamp and a set 'of three saucepans
with lids. Mr. and Mrs. Young and
Mrs. Stewart thanked everyone
and invited thein to visit them in
their new homes. All sang -For
they are jolly' good fellows" after '
which a bountiful lunch was
served.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wightman of
Beigrave visited with Mr., and Mrs.
Wesley Young on Thursday after-
noon.
Mrs. Philip Steer is spending a
few days this week in London
visiting with relatives.
Miss Marilyn Moffat visited with
her sister Mr. and Mrs. Mervin
Conley of Guelph last week.
The Young Peoples meeting for
last Sunday evening was postponed
due to exams at F. E. Madill
Secondary School. Next week the
meeting will be held at White-
church.
