Kairshea WI Held
Annual At Home
The annual "At Home" of
Kairshea W.I. was held in the
Institute Hall November 1, in the
form of a • pot luck supper.
Members and their families enloy-
ed a delidious supper.
Mrs. Philip Steer was chairla4
for the following program: a
singing number by the Clarke
Sisters, Laurie and Bonnie, with
their own accompaniment on the
electric guitar; a trio by the 3 H's
Heather MacDougall, Heather and
Helen Maclntyre accompanied by
Allan MacDougall; a duet number
by Beverley Bell and .Lois Hanna
accompanied by Wilina. Clarke; a
reading by Mrs. Don Bell. Ira
Dickie.; Harold Campbell on their
violins, accompanied by, Lloyd
MacDougall on the banjo and Mrs.
Jack Needham on the piano played
several numbers throughout „ the
evening.
Mrs. ) Evan Keith introduced
Floyd Stanley of Ripley, who
sholed his slides on several
European -tours. 'These were most
interesting. Mrs. Philip Steer
thanked Mr. Stanley and presented
him with a gift.
The singing of 0 Canada, brought
the evening to a close.

hay. In the sheaf show there are
two sections - one for wheat and the
other for oats. In wheat it was first
Mrs. Fran Wylds, then Ab Wylds
with Norman's third and fourth. In
the oat section Roy Goltz of
Falkenburg was first followed by
Norman Schmidt, Fran and • Ab,
and then Carl Brown of Rolling
Hills, Alberta.
It is nice to see Ardill Mason
back to his home in Ripley and able
to be down street again. Ardill
underwent surgery in St. Joe's
Hospital in London in mid October.

Last Friday Mrs. Violet (Roy)
MacKenzie and Mrs. Mary (Rod)
MacKenzie accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Inglis of Wroxeter to'
Rochester, Michigan to attend the
funeral of Mrs. Mary H. Kember.

Last week Jack kcirkpatrick of
Kincardine was reported to have
the, misfortune of a serious accident
on the sixth ,of 'Huron between
Murray Hunter and Glenn Boyd
places. Both Jack and his daughter
received severe injuries when the
car went out of control.

Mrs. Beth (John) Findlay of R.
R. 1 Cargill; the former Beth
MacTavish, visited with friends in
Ripley and area Iasi week.
Last Wednesday was a nice day
for the outdoor.jobs as the weather
was mild and dry. A flock of
Canada geese was seen flying over
Ripley heading south. How well
they knew that a nasty snow storm'
was coming. Well it was here on
Thursday. Soon the green grass
was whitened. The snow cover
persisted through Friday. On
Saturday the weather again chang-
ed to the agreeable kind. The grass
in Gore Park was green and
inviting again. In 'fact so inviting
that some car driver took a turn
driving through Gore Park some
time Saturday night to Sunday
morning.

Visiting with Niels and Nora
Frederiksen in Ripley on the week
end were Harold and Tena Wyld
and a couple of neighbours from
Weston.
Roy Jackson of Detroit is
presently at the family home in
Ripley. Roy is getting things in
shape for closing the 'house for. the
coming winter season. Also he is .
visiting his mother Mrs. Elsie
Jackson who resides at the
Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in .
Lucknow.
The Ripley Legion and Auxiliary
held their joint annual banquet last
Saturday evening in the Legion
Han. Ladies of the Ripley
WoMen's Institute catered to the
banquet and Cliff Emmerton's
orchestra supplied the music for
the social time.
Donald D. MacGregor, 76, of
Detroit and a former native of
Ripley, died 'in Cottage Hospital in
Detroit on Monday of last week.
He was the retired chairman of the
Michigan State Board of Plumbing
and served for 13 years as business
manager of Plumbers Local 98. He
was a member' of the Old Light
Lodge of Lucknow, Ontario, Scot-
tish Rite 'and Moslem Temple. He
served with the Canadian Expedi-
tionary Force during the First
World War in the '160th Battalion
and the 18th Battery. Funeral
service was at the A. H. Peters
Funeral Home in Grosse Pointe
Woods Wednesday evening of last
week. Surviving are his wife'
Alberta, two sons Donald Jr. and
John, 4 daughters Mrs. Mary Jean
Burkel, Mrs. Charlotte Schneider,
Mrs. Catherine Foulks and Mrs.
Margaret Crawford, • 214 grandchild-
ren and one great grandchild.
Donald MacGregor is also survived
by brothers Jack MacGregor and
Donald Matheson of Toronto and,
sister Katharine and brother Bruce
Matheson of California.
Mrs. Francis Gernmell of Ripley
is a first cousin.
