Carolfest Event
Thi planning committee of the
'mallow 'Community Christmas
oncert met at the Anglican Parish
Hall on Wednesday evening,
\November dlth.
The musical directors of the
community churches, and Lucknow
Concert Band, planned the coining
Christmas Carolfest to be held on
Wednesday, DeceiOer 17th, at
8.30 p.m. in the Lucknow United
Church.
Highlighting the program will be
the Lucknow Concert BMW, and
-Jimor Band, and Choirs from the
local. churches.
Confidence is the mainspring
that makes' any person tick.
Receives Awards
At Commencement
Ruth Ecknswiller, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Eckenswiller,
' R. ' R. 1 Holytood, received, the
award for proficiency in grade 12
office practice at the commence-
ment exercises held at F. E. Madill
Secondary School; Wingbani, Nov-
ember 7.
The cash' award was donated by
Lloyd-Truax Limited, lirmgham.
She also received the Doris
MacKenzie award in the form of
cash lad a trophy. , This award is
presented annually.to a graduate of
Lucknow Public • School who is
proficient in office practice.
Ruth is presently . attending
Farixhawe College„ London, in her
first year of a Basic Business
prograni, majoring in Accounting.

Died Suddenly
THAT
Gordon Montgomery of Mont-
gomery Motors in Lucknow has
purchased the garage business of
George Stanley and will operate the
business as Montgomery's Sunoco
Garage.' George will remain as an
employee with Jim Huston also
employed by the new owner. The
building remains the property of
Sunoco' with the business - only
changing hands. For some time.
George Stanley operated the busi-
ness in association with his uncle
Mel Stanley, George operating the
mechanical end and Mel the gas
business: Since Mel's death,
George had operated the complete
business.

James Bird, well known to many
in this area where he worked for a
number of years, died recently in
the Tlilsouburg area.
Jinm was visiting friends and
relatives there and suffered a fatal
heart attack while driving his car.
It left the road and struck a hydro
pole. He was alone at the time.
Mr. Bird had been living at
Wingham with his sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
James Rutter, former residents of
the 4th of Kintoss.
For about five years, prior, to
moving to Wingharn, he worked for
Allan Macintyre of rmloss and
resided there.
The funeral was November 3rd at
Tillsonburg and burial was at
Tillsonburg.
