We, as farmers, are custodians
of our land, one of the most
recious resources that we have.
We are 'tremendously wealthy in
this country, in terms of natural
Durres of all kinds. In terms of
land dimensions, we have a very
swan population in relation to our
land.
In many plaices in t. world
where land was not husbanded
correctly over generations, it has
been necessary to rebuild the land
to the capabilities of producing
food to sustain the increased
population.
Who is going to control the
farmland in Canada in the future?
If we agiee that farmland should be
leit in the marketplace, then those
with the top dollar are given the
tight to decide the allocation of
bald. A great many people will not I
have that right.
A /and tenure tier rte: of the
National -niers Union is gather-
ing information on existing forms
of land tenure in the Provinces and
inc the U.S. Some of the questions
to be answered are: 'Who Is going
to control food praucing land?
wilt it be the on-coming youth as
farmers or syndicates? Who is
going to finance young farmers? At
what cast? Will that cost mean that
pUllg farmers cton only opente as
a type of tenant Farmer On effect)
because of the high interest on
capital investment?
