Lucknow Presbyterian Women's
Missionan( Society met on Wed-
nesday, November S. The meeting
opened with a verse and prayer by
Mrs. Noble-Johnston. The aim and
Purpose of the W.M.S. was
repeated,• in unison, The Bible
study was taken by Mrs. Wallace
Wilson. She based her meditafion
on "Peace" and told how God's
peace is always in the world.
The review of the Glad Tidings
was given by Mrs. Omar Brooks.
Mrs. Philip Stewart led in prayer..
The topic "Christian• Conference of
Asia" was ably taken by Mrs. J. E.
MacDonald. This Christian Con-
ference of Asia is a conference of
churches gathering, together rep-
resentatives in the East Asian
Region from Pakistan to Japan and
the countries in between. inducting
also New Zealand and Australia. In
1973 it was possible to report that
79 churches, representing approx-
imate.ly 37-40 million people in Asia
are members.
The roll call was answered by 17
ladies. The sick committee gave a
report on calls and cards sent to the
sick and shut ins. Highlights of the
Maitland Presbyterial Rally held in
Wingharn on October 22nd, were
given by Mrs. Morgan Henderson.
Hymn 469 was, sung and Mrs.
Maude Sherwood dosed the meet-
ing with prayer.

Of Bible Times
Unit 3 of the Licknow United
Church Women met in the assem-
blyeoom of the church on Tuesday,
November 4 with an attendance of
16 members and 1 visitor.
The president, Mrs. Glen •Wald-
en, opened the meeting with the
Remembrance Day poem "In
Hander's Field" followed by the
Lord's • prayer in unison. She
expressed thanks to the group for
their help at the fowl supper and
announced the general meeting, to
be held November 6 at 8 p.m. with
Miss Jessie McPherson of Kincard-
ine as guest speaker. Roll call
followed and reports from all
committees were given.
Mrs. Eldon Bradley conducted a
fine devotional program based on
Remembrance Day and its deep
significance to all Canadians, both
young and old. Ada Webster read
scripture verses containing the
word 'remember'. Readings
entitled 'The War Bride' and 'Why
Wear a Poppy' were given by Mrs.
Jean Jardine and Mrs. Bert Mon.
A few old familiar patriotic songs
were sung..
The guest speaker,. Mrs. Harvey
Webster, gave a very interesting
talk on the 'Flowers and Coins of
Bible times', referring to the
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
and the common flowers, trees and
herbs of the Holy Land which are
today •grown in most parts of
Ainerica, often under another
name. The speaker showed
souvenir spoons made of tiny coins
used in Bible times and referred to
the widow's mite as a symbol of
the extreme poverty of the common
people of those days. '
The guest was thanked by Mrs.
Bradley and *at the close of the
meeting Grace was sung and the
committee, Mrs. Eldon • Bradley,
Mts. John Mchiurchy and Mrs. •
Jim Ritchie.. served a dainty lunch
during a social. hour.

Women held their November meet-
ing on Wednesday. November at
the home of ,Mrs. Lome Durnin..
Mrs. Garnet Perrier presided for
the worship service, Peace.. She'
opened, the meeting with a . short
meditation, Kuni-ba-yah, This land
is my land and the hymn God of our
Fathers was sung.. All took part in
the responsive reading., Peace.
Mrs. Farrier read an article
Church Service in Vietnam during
the War, which was often held
outside with bombs flying around.
Mrs. Dave Gibb led in prayer.
Mrs, Muriel Thompson gave the
topic, Nutrition, and pointed out
that children brought up in poor
homes. suffered most. Statistics
show there are 1.76 million poor
children in Canada under age 16
years.: In Newfoundland half of the
children are in families below the
poverty line. In Ontario 1 out of 6
are in the poverty line from poor
families. There are 50.000 children
in Canada living in Fetter Homes.
MIS. Lorne Durnin presided for
the business in the absence of
.president Mri. Milian Moore.. The
roll call was answered by 11
members and 1 visitor giving a
' safety hint for the home.
All sang, Letthere be Peace and
Rev.. W. Brown dosed the. meeting
with 'prayer. •

Unit 1 Lucknow United Church
Women held their regular meeting
in the church parlour on Tuesday
afternoon, Noveniber 4 with 11
members present. Mrs. Sam
Gibson opened the meeting and
hyme No. 516 was sung followed by
all repeating the Lord's • prayer.
The roll call was answered with a
"Verse on Peace".
Mrs. Clarence Irwin for Citizen-
ship read an article from a Toronto
paper written by '''Mrs. Nicholls,
also a paper on citizenship. Mrs.
Al Irwin for stewardship gave a
reading "Autumn" and also one
"Remembrance Day". Mrs.
Walter Dexter reported on visiting
shut ins and community friendship,
Mrs. Wm, G. Hunter for social
functions gave the report on recent
catering and Mrs. Peter Cook gave
the treasurer's report, which was
very good. The church plates were
available and distributed to those
present.
The convener of the program was
unable to be present so' Mrs. Sam
Gibson took charge of the program.
Mrs. Walter Dexter read the
scripture from Luke 11 and Mrs.
Sam Gibson gave the meditation.,
Mrs. Alex McNay read a story of a
lady who thought her home work
dull and while sitting mending she
fell asleep and had a beautiful
dream. The story was written by
Mrs.-Wo011y and contained a good,
moral for all. •
Mrs. Wes Ritchie played a piano
solo "Memories". Mrs. Peter
Cook gave a reading "Lest We
Forget" and Mrs. Walter Dexter
gave a Remembrance day reading.
The meeting was dosed' with
prayer and lunch was served by, the
committee and a social time

The November meeting of South
Kinloss Women's Missionary Soc-
iety was held Wednesday. Novem-
ber 5, at the home of Mrs, Harry
Levis.
Mrs. Ira Dickies presided and op-
ened the meeting with, a Remem-
brance poem. The hymn, "Come
let us sing of a wonderful love" was
sung. The Aim and Purpose of the
W;M.S. was repeated in unison,
followed by the• repeating of the
Lord's prayer.
The 'scripture taken from Heb-
rews 12 and 13 was read alternate-
ly by each` member and Mrs. Annie
Maclntyre gave a Well prepared
meditation on the above passages.
Minutes were read by the secretary
Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon and busi-
ness was dealt with. A letter from
Pinecrest Manor was read request-
ing some entertainment be put on
fir the residents. It was decided to
do so at some future date. The
Ladies Aid will make the lunch for a
wedding reception in early Decem
ber. The nominating committee
will be Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall 'and
Mrs. Gib Hamilton. The toll call'
was answered with a Bible verse
with the word "Go". There were
IS members present.
The study book chapter was
given by. Mrs.. Allan ,MacDougall
"The Good 'Samaritan". Mrs.
MacDougall also read the poem
"In Flanders Fields". Mrs. Philip
Steer gave the offertory prayer.
Mrs. Ted Collyer, Mrs. Vera
Schmidt and Mrs. Annie MacIntyre
took part in the prayer circle.
Courtesy remarks were given by
Mrs. Allan MacDougall 'The
closing hymn was "0 Master let
me walk with Thee" and prayer by
Mrs. Douglas Graham..
Grace was sung and lunch served
by the directors Mrs. Allan
MacDougall Mrs. Annie Mae-
Intyre and the hostess. The
December meeting will be held at
the home of Mrs. Bruce Hamilton.
