THAT
Lucknow Fire Department res-
ponded to a fire call shortly after
supper on Hallowe'en night. A
bush, between the 6th and 4th of .
West ' Wawanosh had, ignited,
spreading from a corn field fire
earlier in the day. Albert
Plasschaert had been burning corn
stalks when the fire got into a fence
bottom and spread to the bush.
Firemen gained access to the fire
through, the farm of-Gordon Smyth.'
The blaze was broUght under
control without' too much difficulty,
but high winds that evening could
have caused some real problems if
the fire had got out of control.
THAT
Hallowe'en in Lucknow was very
quiet and damage was minor.
Lucknow Fire DePartment, who did
policing duties, report one of the
quietest Hallowe'ens for many
years. The young Trick or Treaters
were out in abundance. The Treats
were many and the Tricks were
few. The only vandalism which has
come to our attention it an object
thrown through the window 'of a
local residence. Ontario Provincial
