Huron County Defer Raise Of 18.4%
For Road Department Employees
After Recommendation By Committee
A one-year salary increase of
18.4 per cent for 36 employees_ of
the Huron County roads depart-
ment was deferred for .further
study last week by Huron County.
Council.
Council refused to accept a roads
committee recommendation that a
75-cent an hour increase be
granted to the men who now earn.
An average of $4.07 an hour..
Approval of the pay increase in
light of the federal wage increase
guideline of 10 per cent and the
, effect the raise might have on other
county employees scuttled it for the
time being.
Also deferred were salary in-
creases of about 16 per cent or
$2,000 for another eight employees
in' the department who earn ail
average $12,000 annually.,

went moose hunting recently and

Night at Fanshawe . College on
Friday . night at which Gerald
received the Proficiency Award
presented by Ontario General
Contractor's Association. They
visited with Mr. and Mrs. John
Bere and Karen in London and
went on to Windsor on 'Saturday to
visit Miss Ruth Bere, who is taking
post-graduate course there.
Barry Anderson is presently
taking a mechanical course at
Fanshawe College, London.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Glen Olson on the birth of their
daughter, Amy Marie.
SISTER PASSES IN DEIROIT
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Mrs. Minnie Jones and
Mel on the death of her sister, Mrs.
Eva Rice, 83, in Detroit. Mrs..
Rice's body was cremated and
brought to Ball's Cemetery near
Auburn. Her son, Douglas Rice
and his family, Gail, Randy and
Gerry of Detroit visited Mrs. Jones
and Mel' on the week end.
Hallowe'en passed very. quietly
and the Trick-or-Treaters in the
village were a credit to their
families.
