A ring, lost by Bayne's mother some 15 years previously, turned up . on a potato taken from the MacLennan garden. Mrs. MacLen- nan was washing_ some potatoes when the ring was noticed wrapped around a portion of a potato. A diamond and one ruby were still in the ring. 0 Janet Carruthers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virden Mowbray of, Lucknow, received her Gold Cord,' the highest award in Guiding. Fire destroyed a large T-shaped barn on the 'James Brooks farm, concession 11, Huron Township. The building, and contents of No. 9 school in Kinloss were sold. The trend to central education resulted in many one-room schools being disposed of. Ernest Crawford of Port Albert purchased the 'feed business of Lorne MacLennan. Mr. Crawford was currently awaiting his dis- charge from the R.C.4.F„ in which branch of the service he, served for four years.
