The weekly report from the
Ontario Livestock Yards in Toronto
given each Saturday noon on radio
lists the top priced sale of cattle
during the week. Last Saturday
both Gordon Finlayson of Lochalsh,
shipping from Lucknow and Leon-
art Courtney of Amberley, shipping
from Ripley were mentioned. One
of the two top lots shipped by
Leonard was cattle from the farm of
Gordon Stewart on concession 12 in
Huron Township.
Jim Moirier of Hamilton spent a
few days at their home in Ripley
last week. His wife Anna May is
now home and shows some
improvement in health.
Last Saturday Mrs. Rosalind
Hodgins brought two interesting
articles found recently, at their
home in the Clover Valley section,
east of Olivet, on the second of
Huron. One was a Bank of Upper
Canada penny minted in 1854. The
coin is about the size of 'a large one
cent copper and is • in good
condition. - Her husband Glen
found it while making renovations
at their home, The second item
was found by their son, Bevin,
Hodgins, in a nearby -field. It was
the neck of a toy ballOon and to it
was attached an. American postal
card. On one side was the return
address - "Resurrection Lutheran
Church, 20531 Kelly Rd., (near 8
Mile), Detroit, Michigan 48225"
and an attached . American postal
stamp. Apparently The sender had
not figured on it flying to Canada.
The sender was apparently a boy
who released it on their Rally Day
for he printed his' name as Jeff -
that is all. Also there were spaces
for the finder's name and-ad
and the location of the find. Well it
is a long and wind tossed way that
toy balloon travelled from the north
side of the city of Detroit to that
field on the second concession east
in HurOn Township.
Back home to Ripley are Mr. and
Mrs. Don WICCosh from a trip
across Western Canada,. They
visited with their' daughter Mary
Ann and husband, Mr. and Mrs.
Mike Kukoly at The Pas in
Northern Manitoba, also with Mr.
and Mrs. Stephen Elliottk at Upsala,
with Mr. and Mrs. John Colwell in
Kenora, with Mr. and Mrs. Dan
Wardrop in Lac du Bennett, then
with relatives in Melfort, Glafling,
North Battleford, Scott, Unity and
Saskatoon in Saskatchewan.

Use hot water wisely
Save pnergy...Save money
Apart from home heating, a family usually consumes
the most energy in producing hot water.
Here are just a few small things you can do-, that can
add up to a considerable energy saving, Turn Off
hot water taps so they don't drip, fill clothes washers to
match the size of the load, wait until you have a full load
before using a diShwasher and remember showers usually
require less hot water than baths. Try not to use
more hot water than you need.
The Cascade electric water heater
will give you a dependable supply
of lot water, but it's up to you
to use it wisely.
