Mrs. Harold Treleaven welcom-
ed the members of Unit 1, Lucknow
United Church Women, to her
home for their October meeting on
Tuesday. afternoon, (kWh& 7.
There were 22 members and one
visitor present. •
Mrs. Sam Gibson welcomed• all
and opened the meeting with a
verse "If I can do some good to
day". Hymn No. 577, "Come ye
thankful people come" was sung
followed by prayer. Mrs. Al 'Irwin,
for Stewardship, gave a reading "A
Thankful Heart". Mrs. Walter
Dexter, for community friendship,
gave the report on visiting and a
reading "Measure of. Life":
Mrs. Nelson Raynard,' in charge
of supply and welfare, had a special
collection for the blanket fund.
Mrs. Pete Cook gave 'the treasur-
er's report.
Mrs. Bill Hunter, convener for
social functions, made arrange-
ments for the annual fowl supper to
be held at the church on, TueSday,
October 21 and also for catering to
a wedding.
It was announced thafthe'church
plates should be here by the
November meeting and also that
anyone wishing a church calendar
can order them now by contacting
the leader or secretary.
Mrs. Ross Shiells was the
convener for the devotional and
had as a theme "Thanksgiving
Must be Thanksgiving". The
hymn "Now thank we all our God"
was sung. Mrs. Steve Stothers
read' the scripture from Luke,
chapter 17: verses 1.1 to 19. Mrs.
M. Gibson gave the meditation
prepared by , Mrs. Ross Shiells on
the parable of the ten lepers who
had been restored to wholeness by
Jesus and only one returned to say
:,`thank you". Are we among the
ones" or the "nines" when we
fail to give thanks for our many
blessings?
Mrs. Shiells introduced Miss
Christine Robertson from Ripley
who spoke on "Thanksgiving."

Special Service
In an autumn setting of flowers,
leaves, fruit, vegetables, the bread'
and the grapes, Lucknow C.G.I.T.
celebrated Thanksgiving Sunday at.
South Kinloss Presbyterian. Church
with a special sixtieth anniversary
service.
The C.G.I.T., choir opened the
service with the*singing of "Morn-
ing Has Broken". The choir also
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and
"Thanksgiving". Mrs. Wilma
Clarke accompanied on the Organ
and piano.
Joanne Ritchie and Lynn. Elphick
led throughout the service. Mrs.
Andre), • Tiffin gave a special
message on "How to become a
shining jewel for His Kingdom".
The loose offering is to be used
by the C.G.I.T. for their foster
child. $87.72 was given for a
special gift for Maileng Millones in
Peru.
A special presentation from the
Presbyterian Church in Canada for
their many years of loyal service
was given to Mr.. and Mrs. Douglas
drahatit. The framed Centennial
certificate was presented by Rev-
erend Glenn Noble.
Many. former C.G.I.T. members
'and their families attended the
service. The ladies of the South
Kinloss W.M:S. served lunch and
everyone enjoyed a social time.

hostess and committee in charge of
the meeting.
WMS Held Fall
Mankoffering
On Wednesday evening, October
8th the Women's Missionaty
Society of the Presbyterian Church,
Lucknow, held the Fall. Thankof-
fering in the church.
Mrs. Jas. Little presided. There
was a good attendance of , ladies
from the Afternoon and Ev ening
Auxiliary groups and as well a
number of men.
Mrs. Robt. Reid read the
scripture from Psalm 100 and
gaven an interesting commentary
on taking our blessings for granted.
Mrs. Morgan Henderson led in
prayer.
The -male quartet, Norman
Taylor, Austin Loree, Dale Halden-
by and Cyril Brown, favoured with
several numbers,, which were much
enjoyed, and Ruth Henderson gave
two lovely piano numbers.
Rev. L. Van Staalcluinen, minist-
er of • the• Lutknow Christian
Reformed Church was, the guest
speaker and was introduced by
Rev. Glenn Noble.
The° speaker gave an inspiring
Thanksgiving address, which was
enjoyed by all present..
Mrs. Omar Brooks thanked the ,
speaker and all who had taken part
on the program. The ladies of the
Afternoon Auxiliary of the W.M.S.
served tea.. Mr. Noble returned
thanks, and an enjoyable time was ,
spent in conversation.

ladies gathered early, and a, quilt
was quilted during the 'afternoon.

Mrs. Gertrude Walsh gave a

closed the meeting with 'prayer.
Grace was sung and a delicious
lunch was served by- the hostess.
The November' meeting will be
held at Mrs. Midford Wall's home
and will be the bale packing and-
the annual business meeting.
