Devotional was taken by Mrs. Jim
Arnold with meditation and prayer.
Mrs. Cliff Menary read scripture,. 'shim 100, with different members
reading verses of scripture, a
Thanksgiving prayer and a poem
"On Thanksgiving Day".
Mrs. Alex Hackett gave a
reading "There Are Many Reasons
for Gratitude ever since the
Beginning". Mrs. Warren Zinn
read the treasurer's report.
Donations ,were voted on and
passed for different organizations
to be paid by cheque. A. bale is to
be packed' shady to be sent
overseas. Our. Presbyterial rally is
to be held at Holmesville on
October 21st' starting at 9.45 a.m.
Lunch is oneAollar and seventy five
cents. Trinity ladies are to lead the
sing song at the meeting.
Members wanting a ride call the
` president 'the night before.' Mrs.
Charles Wilkins had a letter from •
the Hummels. Rev. James
Hummel entered the Woodstock
General Hospital the second' week
of October for surgery.
A letter was read from PinecreSt
.Manor Nursing _Home asking for
entertaining and visiting from the
Church. Mrs. Cook gave ,prayer
after the closing hymn. Lunch was
served by the committee in charge.

Lucknow Unit 3
Unit 3 of the Lucknow United
Church Women met in the church
parlour on Tuesday afternoon,
October 7 with an attendance of 19
members. The president, Mrs.
Glen Walden, provided an attract-
ive table arrangement of autumn
vegetables in keeping 1 /4 with the
theme "Thanksgiving" and open-
ed the meeting With a suitable
poem. The hymn, "Came ye
thankful people come" was sung
followed by prayer. The members
answered the roll call with a
Thanksgiving thought or verse.
Mrs. Chas. MacDonald, social
convener, made arrangements for
the• unit's share in providing food
and helpers, needed for the. Fowl
Supper to be held on Tuesday
evening, October 21. Reports of
their activities were also given 'by
Mrs. ,Jas. Ritchie, visitation con
vener. Mrs. W. Drennan, conven-
er of Christian Education and
Missions and Mrs: J. Jardine,
treasurer of the groupc
Mrs.' L. McLeod then took the
chair and presented the following
program, using hymn, "NoW we all
our God" and a Thanksgiving
poem as an introduction. Mrs.
Grace Campbell read Psalm 100
and the Meditation was taken by.
Ada Webster: A piano instrument-
al, Cathedral Chimes, rendered by
Mrs. E. Rice, was much enjoyed,
followed by two good readings by
Mrs. E. Wightman. The topic on
Thanksgiving was very ably taken
by Mrs. Bert Alton who emphasiz-
ed that although unfavourable
weather conditions for farmer's,.
strikes and unrest in industry, loss
of health and other discouraging
problems often come upon us, the
countless blessings God bestows
upon us far outweigh our misfort-

Unit 4 of the Lucknow 'United
Church Women met in the church
parlour for the October meeting.
Unit leader, Mrs. Leonard Ritchie,
welcomed everyone and opened the
meeting with a "Thanksgiving
Verse", followed 'by a hymn.
The roll penny a birthday,
was answered by 15 members. --The
treasurer gave the financial report.
The offering was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Ritchie. A
special collection ' was taken for
blanket month.
The plates .that were ordered'
with a picture of our church and
church, history on the 'back will be
in the end of October. Mrs. -Roy
Havens, social functions convener,
made plans for the Fowl Supper,
October 21 and a wedding, October
25th.
Mrs. Lloyd Hall led in devotions.
Following a hymn, Mrs. Mel Corrin
read the scripture, Psalm 100.
Mrs. Hall led in prayer.
Mrs. Hall introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Donalda Scott, who
gave a travelogue 'of her trip to 'the
Holy Land, Switzerland and Scot-
land. Mrs. Hall thanked Mrs. Scott
for her talk, which was enjoyed by
everyone.
Mrs. Bob Struthers read a poem
"A Family Thanksgiving Day" and
the meeting closed with the Mizpah-
benediction. Lunch was served.
