Society met Sunday evening' for
their organization meeting. Norma ,
MacIntYre was elected president
and Laurie Clarke secretary treas-
urer. Mission films were shown by
Rev. Glenn Noble.
Christopher MacKenzie spent a
week with his grandparents' Mr.
and Mrs. Frank MacKenzie, while
'his parents Mr, and Mrs. Ian
MacKenzie of .„Cobourg were on
vacation.
We are glad to hear that Mrs..
Lorne Sparks was able to' return
home 'from Wingham and District
Hospital on Saturday.
Miss Edna Campbell of 'Toronto
and Mrs. Martha McIvor of Ripley
were dinner guests Friday with'Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Needham.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Clarke

Walton by defeating them, on their
home diamond 8 - 4, Sunday
afternoon.'
Elliott Courtney and Floyd
Stanley shared the pitching duties
with Eric MacLeod calling the
signals.
A very loyal group of Ripley fans
were treated to a spirited fastball
thriller which was highlighted by
several key defensive plays by Al
Hunter, Elliott Courtney, Barry
MacDonald and Jack MacDonald.
Elliott led the way at the plate with
a home run and 2 singles.
Fourteen girls attended the
second meeting of the Lucknow.
GirrGuides on Thursday evening. ,
Each girl brought a nature, item
such as a mushroom, rock, a piece
of meteorite, lobster claw, maple
leaf, .fungus, cocoon etc. to' show
what could be collected for the
nature section of the Challenge
Badge:.
The girls learned and reviewed
the hand and whistle signal for
silence and the first Guide Law "A
Guide's honour is to be trusted".
Each Guide received a. book mark
with the Guide Laws printed •on
Lieutenant Mrs. Jim Morrison
taught the Sign and Good Turn to
tenderfoot Ann Hamilton while
Captain Mrs. Don Thompson
discussed with the other girls the
badge work they would like to do
this year.
Thanks was extended to Brenda
McLeod, Marian Raynard', Faye
Forster,' Nancy Thompson, Lori
McKim, Suzanne Kirkland and
Ann Hamilton who sold calendars
at the Fair. There were also some
Brownies who helped.
Some games were played and
campfire held. Lori McKim and
Faye Forster taught a • song at
campfire that they learned at camp
this summer. Lorna Boyle told of
her trip to Midland and ^Toronto, a
part of Guiding on the Move.
The first meeting. was held
September 18 when the.girls met at ,
the home of.Mrs. Don Thompson to
sing a few camp songs and relate
camping experiences of the past
summer. Mrs. Dan Bellmore • of
Whitechurch and Mrs. Evans Helm
of Lucknow are also going to be
leaders this year...
A hike is being planned for this
Thursday's meeting if the weather
is good.
Forget the past —'the future
holds plenty to worry about.
