At the time she was a patient in Wingham Hospital. The former Murdena MacLean, she spent her early years at the family farm on the 8th concession of Huron Township; west of Ripley. Then she and her, husband, the late Wes VV71ds, lived on the Borden farm on the fourth concession. Later they mgt ed to Bervie where Wes operated the chopping mill. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen, Mrs. Henry Beckley of Greenock, and Viola, Mrs. Eugene Bridge of the South Line in Kincardine Township; three grand- children, Shirley, Dennis and Carmen Bridge and two sisters,- EmMa of the sixth of filuron and Annie of Southampton. The funeral service was held last Saturday afternoon at the McLen, nan McCreath Funeral Home with interment in Ripley • Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the family. Saturday on their way to the Lucknow Fall Fair. They were awarded a second prize in the parade for this float telling that the Ripley-Huron Fall Fair would be this Friday and Saturday, Septem- ber 26 and 27, This float also was in the parade in - Kincardine for their fair. Helping Jim and Isabel /aSsenible this float on behalf of the Ripley Agricultural Society were Ardill Mason, Clara Shiells, Gladys Arnold, Marjorie Thompson,, Dan A. MacDonald and Reg Moore. Last Wednesday morning, Sept- ember 17, could be remembered as the time of the great fog. This fog blanketed Western Ontario so that CKNX radio at Wingham had a list of late school buses reminiscent of last winter's blizzard conditions. * * * Reported home is Elwyn. Pollock after a three week, stay in Kincardine District Hospital. Miss Martha Beaton of Mabou, Nova Scotia, is . visiting . with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John 'Langley ' and Milan in Ripley. Mr: and Mrs. Langley and son Iaian returned home 'to Ripley from a three week visit with John's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A, J.. Langley Jr. of Port. Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and with Ann Marie's parents Mr. and Mrs..'John Robert White of. Mabou in Nova. Scotia. John and Ann Marie have been occupying the apartment . at. the home of Mr.. and .Mrs. '.Clayton • Nicholson for the past year. * * * * * * In charge of the voting in Ripley. were Florence Kirkpatrick, Mabel Barnard, Annie Scott and Dave Martyn at the Ripley-Huron Legion, hall and at the municipal office were Elva Needham, Lila Tranter and Marion Gamble. _- On Tuesday of las w eek, Mr. and. Mrs. E. O. Forrester returned home to .Ripley from Oshawa. Elsie, who spent a few weeks with her daughter there, had the misfortune to fracture an ankle while they were at the cottage. A reception dance in honour of newlyweds Mr. and 'Mrs. Murray Ferguson was held last Saturday evening in the auditorium of the Ripley District .High School. Glenn Boyd's orchestra supplied the music. Last Thursday morning John C. Wood, an 'Ontario Land Surveyor, assisted by Rob. Bellamy, were doing a survey 'of the Huron Market plot of land in the northeast part of Ripley. They were doing this fot Mrs. Morgan Johnston, the pres- ent owner. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston bought this plot over a year ago from Mrs. -Jilin Robertson. The present survey is to sever the land into building lots. At one time the whole northeast part of Ripley was the property of Malcolm MacLen- nan. Mr. Wood now resides at the former Kenny MacDonald farm on the 12th concession west while Rob Bellamy is from Southampton-. * * * * * *' KINLOUGH Mr. and ,Mrs. P. A. Murray .returned home 'after visiting with Mr. and Mrs: Keith McCarter and family at Wallaceburg. While there Mrs. McCarter (Veronica) and her father and mother went to Port Huron where they visited with cousins. Friends of Sam Farmer of Kincardine and formerly of Holy- rood, are sorry to knovrth-alliel-S-a- patient in the, Kincardine and District Hospital. We wish him improved health. BeSt wishes were extended to BY AB WYLDS On the occasion of her 96th birthday, Mrs. Elsie (Chid) Jackson ' was honoured at a. family party held last Saturday evening at the Sutton Park Inn at Kincardine. Attending the event were her daughter Dor- -':othy and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stergois of Fort Lauderdale in 'Eloriaa; her son Roy H. Jack- son. and wife Pearl; her grandson, Roy M. Jackson and wife Kathy and her great grandson Roy M. Jr. of Detroit. This totals four gen- erations of the Jackson family present at the party. Close relatives of Mrs. Jackson at her party, were, Annie , and Walter Culbert, Helty and George Mac- Leod, Peg and Sandy MacCharles, Kay and Gomer Gibbons, Tom Culbert, and Bessie and Tom • Hewitt of Walkerton. She is now a resident' at the Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Lucknow.
